So guys, those damn C clips for my shift linkage are definatly not coming out. I have sprayed, pulled, sprayed, and pulled some more. They are rust welded like you would not believe. I have used wd 40, pb buster, and liquid wrench. They are not coming out.

I need suggestions on what to do now. I would possible get a dremel to cut one of the brakets out, but the one farther back is a no no. Please, im desperate, im so close to getting the trans out, these are the only things holding the trans in. Please, help.

cut the cables if you have to...Then when the tranny is out..fix your c lip situation and put in new cables....or even you could maybe disconnect your cables form your shifter and pull it out thru the firewall then drop the motor with the cables still attached.

Dang I normally Clamp some vise grips on there and twist left and right and then repeat while pulling up and bang they come off.

i could give that a try. I really dont want to take the cables out of the firewall, thats gonna be last resort. I'll go buy a nice pair of vice grips today, its pay day!!!!!

can you hammer a flat head screwdriver between the clip and the housing to maybe loosen it up a bit?

you just need to get creative

try using a metal bar and hitting that onto the handle of the screwdriver...some blunt trauma like that might just loosen the rust...just trying to help bud! :D

When I removed my clips I used a crowbar a piece of wood and a hammer. Worked without a hitch.
