So today my friend told me my reverse lights weren't coming on when I was going in reverse so naturally I popped open the panel and replaced the bulb. When I put it in reverse still no light...but all the other lights are working fine.

And now all of a sudden my drivers side window control won't go up, just down...and I just replaced it! :banghead :aargh

-if you replaced the switch with a junkyard one, it happens. ive been through about 4 sunroof switches and still havent found one where everything works.

-on the reverse lights. if its stick. on top of the tranny there is what looks like a giant nut with 2 wires poking out of it. thats the switch. maybe its disconnected or damaged?

OR maybe you just need to clean the connections to the reverse light bulb, sand it down. It's better than replacing window regulators on a 45k car. My BMW X5 has been babied and everything except engine wise has been breaking down. Unfortunatley BMW quality is very well known in the BMW scene :crazy

Possibly. Its an auto as far as the reverse lights are concerned. I've looked over every wire in the engine compartment and everything seems fine.

Whenever you address an electrical problem with a car, use dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. Whether it be a window control switch or a light bulb socket, apply a thin amount to all contact surfaces after sanding and they will be trouble free for a long time.

This is the same stuff that you buy in small packets to put around your battery terminals. I went to NAPA Auto and bought a big tube of it.
