Hi $300...let me be the first to welcome you to our forum! Of course, we will want pics and details about your new baby. You've come to the definative place to get any and all technical and performance info on what most of the known universe consider the least desirable of all Celicas; we owners know otherwise. Anyway as a daily driver if yours is in good shape it will be a huge gas saver compared to the Chevy truck...plus the "cool" factor of driving a two-door with flip-up lights just can't be measured.

PS. I wouldn't try converting it into Alltrac but some of the brainiacs on this forum might (take a hint now and don't listen to them..)

Hey 300, welcome to the forum, and yeah get some pics up, we're picture whores :p

For the money the conversion would cost you could have just bought an alltrac. That's all I'll say on that.

Nah, we're second, the least desirable were these puke-boxes:

Welcome and this IS the most comprehensive site for 162's.

Forget about AWD and buy a BGB ( BIG GREEN BOOK ) or at least a Haynes repair manual ............ ANY answers to your questions should be found here using the search option and if not, ask the question again because someone is sure to know.

Yes, you are dreaming - stop, cuz it can't be done. If you can afford to do it I suggest rather get Ferrari Special Projects div to custom build you one of theirs

You paid $300 because somebody else knows something you don't. Time to figure what that is and prepare for a lot of hard work, parts sourcing, oil leaks, overheating, gremlins, rust etc, etc

I paid $350 for mine (it's the only one here) and it took 1yr on bricks + 1 donor car + heatbreak + ruined social life before I could even think of driving it, it's taken years to get where it is now (reliable), a few more years and I'll get it 100% how I want it

Only reason there's good looking cars here is cuz guys spent time & money to get them like that

Thanks for all the reply guys. First off I got it not running, So after put in a spare battery I had just collecting dust and a good ole jump start, It actually ran...for about 4 minutes after I took the jumper cables off...So I ripped out the altinator and replaced it with a nice brand new one...Then took a few laps around the block only to realize that I had no power steering...great. well after checking all the fluids I found that the coolant tank has what looks like and oil like substance mixed in with the coolant...(blown gasket maybe?) well I flushed the coolant system and it doesnt seem that bad now. The engine itself sounds like it running pretty good and strong, and has a decent amount of pep to it. the power steering was completly dry so after filling it up, It now works. Although I found that I do have a pretty good leak somewhere.... Now I have cleaned most of the inch thick oil and grime from underneath and off the top ill try to attempt to figure out where Im loosing steering pump fluid. I also seem to have a very minor oil leak somewhere aswell. nothing like the p/s though. Ive already put 200 miles on the car and still holding together.

These cars are well known for leaking from both the p/s pump and the high pressure hose so I'd start looking there. You can buy rebuild kits for the pump for about $15, you'll probably need to get a new high pressure hose made up though, I'm not sure they're off-the-shelf. Nice work getting it running though

Yup, make sure everythings clean and tight on the steer hoses and pump.

If the pressure hose is leaking there is a thread here specifically to deal with this issue, use the search link.

You can't buy them off the shelf but the power steering pressure hose thread describes the best way to go about having one made up.
