No, its not. This unfortunately puts an end to a long and tedious project. All the money and time invested seems to have been wasted and so close to the move that is pretty painful. At this point, with the small window of time I have left, the project is being scrapped. I can't see myself justifying anymore money into something I really wanted to happen. Since I've owned these cars it seems nothing but problematic and financially draining. I have now two cars, in pieces, across two different states, that both don't run. I'm at a loss for words and I don't know what to do at this point except to give up both and cut my losses. In order to get the car in running order it'll need a complete bottom end rebuild which I can't do in 50 days. Stormtrooper II was my last shot at this. Sadly it ends here. Thanks guys, its been fun.
I honestly do not know what to say/do to help man, really. I did find those rod bearings. Let me know where to send them.
Its alright. I just wish I could figure out what happened. Crushed spark plug in #3? Bad luck? Rod knock? How the hell.
They're non interface. It would take a bit of a holy shit to drive the piston into the valves/spark plug. Really doesn't make sense though if he drove it hard and it was fine, then all of a sudden #3 took a crap.
i wonder is the TVIS came apart? something had to break internally or the intake sucked something in. either way there is something foreign in the cumbustion chamber for that cylinder. the only way to tell is to pull the head.
Maybe. I'm still flying down on Monday to check it out. Ill keep you guys updated. Low compression with noise worries me.
I've seen a 4A-GE motor do the same thing - a valve cracked and a piece of it fell off and into the cylinder. Exact same symptoms.
The spark plug was crushed too. You think a piece of that fell in or the dropped/cracked valve caused it?
Here is a small update. Finally got to take a look at the car in person. I started her up and didn't hear any knocking sounds. Drove her hard for a bit and the shifter shifts like I'm stirring soup heh. Anyway I didn't get any knocking sounds but there is still low compression in #3 and a misfire. Worn rings or the like, who knows.
Update. I ended up rebuilding the first Celica. Top end is clean, all the shims properly measured, etc. Engine sounds good and compression is fantastic. Built a new oil separator to help fight the strong crankcase pressure from my ring problems. I'm also looking into building a crankcase vent for the oil cap. Here is a sneak peak of the work in progress. Getting ready for two days of painting. Going with a classic silver/white two tone. More updates soon.
needs lower and repaint the eyelids to stock color would probably make it cleaner looking. otherwise, great job on the door, paint looks good!
Yeah those are post facelift eyelids with a prefacelift celica thing. Lower? Maybe. I hit shit with my lip as it is.
whatever makes the flow of the car work. not the current white lids + brown/grey grille lol. personally i like the grille/lids brown/grey or whatever teh stock color is.
