    Hey,
I tried to start my car today after installing a new waterpump, changing the timing belt, and also changing the oil pump oil seals. This engine has never ran since I bought it at the junkyard. The car I put the engine in has been sitting for one year and there's half a tank of gas in it. I didn't drain the gas and I didn’t add any octane boost.
I check for the spark, and I know there's fuel going to the injectors because I didn’t tighten the fuel tilter on enough and some gas has leaked out.
In any case, the car won’t start. It cranks over fine. Tomorrow I’m going to be checking the timing with a timing light but I’m 98% sure that’s it’s correct. Do you guys think that my gas could have gone bad by now? I know it’s been sitting but it smells fine to me.

I was thinking of draining a cup of it or so and trying to light it on fire to see if it’s still flammable. Any other suggestion would be great?

    Thanks
    -Gabe

have you done a compression test? its possible it has low compression, you could turn it over all day long and not get it to start on low compression

I think the gas should still be flammable enough to work.....you've checked over all your sensors and shit first? I know if the afm sensor isn't plugged in the car will crank but not start...so it could be something really minor like that if you're lucky!

The afm is plugged in as well as all of the other plugs. I have a compression tester so maybe ill do a compression test on it when I get home. I'm pretty sure that there's compression. Could it be my resister pack?? My hunch is that it's to do with the injectors or the gas. Ill do some trouble shooting later when I get home.

    Thanks for the insight

Check the intake for cracks. The 4th gens do this alot. check the rippled spot where it flexes in the middle, and squeeze the intake hose and inspect for cracks. Its like 125+ at the dealership for a replacement, but electrical tape worked fine. Put somthing over the crack though, because I've heard the sticky tape residue gets sucked in over time.

    Good luck.

mine had a nice big crack the previous owenr tried to stick shut with some wierd stuff, when I found it I wrapped a bunch of duct tape arond the whole thing to take care of an other cracks. it gave me noticable performance results.

Checked my intake and it's all good. There's some small cracks in it but it's not right through. Anyway, my car runs fine now.. timing was off by a few teeth :?
