    Hi St162 guru

Thanks for the encouragement but I have a long way to go before I dare attempt the windscreen because it really is a mess and on the convertables the pillar also has holes in the top by the targa roof but can be filled,my previous works have not been too good in the past but the worst problem for me is that the car is parked about 12 miles from where I live,no job means not being able to drive or get to the car by other means also there is no electric there to use certain tools.
    nevermind maybe next year!

I have located parts i.e a new roof in America but as for the actual targa rubber seals no,luck with that yet to stop water leaking in above your head LOL!

what I will need are the plastic clips and trims to go round the windscreen upon works being done.

Well I will give myself a deadline and if I cannot do it by then I may sell her with all bits as realistically I dragged it around for 6 years already and not really achieved anything so far just paying storage fees.

It's difficult to have a hobby and not be able to do anything but things can change maybe soon who knows.

So you're from the UK, whereabouts ?

That's a real pain having a garage 12 miles away and no electric :sad

I'm in Coventry. We 're planning a Celica gen 4 meet on July 16th at Coventry Transport Museum, any chance you could get to that ? Our first meet last year was a great success.

Mine is not a cabriolet, but as you can see from the meet, we had 5 turn up, so there will be plenty of information for you. You can come in the Micra ( I have a soft spot for these too ) and I can make sure you can park amongst the elite :cool

i believe that is 4gauge wiring..........i think he just used a thicker wire to be safe.

Quick question. Sometimes my 89 Celica GTS won't start, I either get nothing or I get clicks. Then a few seconds, minutes, etc. later it fires right up. Does this sound like an issue associated with this mod? I had the starter rebuilt before, but I am not sure if he redid the solenoid. It sounds like a solenoid to me, but after reading this I think I will try the relay route. Thanks

Thanks, just ordered the relay and a mini wire harness for $8 shipped from amazon. Going to rig it up this week when it arrives.

^This is a very common problem on our cars. Good thing the fix is cheap and easy!

every couple hundred starts i get a grinding sound, prolly on flywheel, then i wait a second and it starts right up, only happens once in a while with no pattern of when, might do it a tad more after it has been sitting but not sure...

That's just the teeth not lining up, take the starter out and check the wear on the gear

it did this on my old 88 (it had the 1mz-fe v6 starter, same fit as the 3s-fe starter), it would do the grinding sound once every...20 starts. i now know that it's the flywheel because i still have the same starter from that car and it has never grinded/unaligned teeth sound on my 87 now with a brand new 5s-fe flywheel.
