What do you guys think? This is the 2nd hood I have made. The first one my wife destroyed by rearending a escort.
ST185 RC Water to Air Intercooler the small scoop is for cooling the timing belt the large vent sits directly over the turbo so at stop lights it will vent all that heat out instead of heatsoaking the intercooler. I beleive it will also be effective while in motion the air coming through the grill will partially exit through the hood vent.
On a stock 165 that would greatly improve engine bay temps... I'm switching to 185 WTA TMIC when I get the money.
This will be a far from stock ST165 I have a ST185 RC engine that is being rebuilt for this car right now. I plan on acheiving over 300awhp upon first startup and dyno tune, later I will upgrade turbo to GT28 or a GT30, 272 cams, custom intake, gutted TVIS 880cc injectors etc... I going for within 2 years acheiving the 550hp mark reliably with a full race gas tune with alcohol injection. May have to go to a ST205 WTA IC or even a Front mount I really want to avoid front mount at all costs. I was thinking I should finish the hood paint it & send it off to a carbon fiber place to make a carbon fiber hood
Why? To what point? Run a FMIC and call it a day. Heatsoak is a bitch and WTA is only worth it when your drag racing.
I would not descimate a OEM vent they're supply is withering I got a Erebuni Fiberglass WRC reproduction vent.
looks very nice, this is what i have had done sorry about the pics at nite i will take some more in the day time this is the first in the world that i know of . st185rc hood grafted to a st165 hood this was not cheap to do ,but im soooo happy. up loading the pic now .
