Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S i'm planning to get the car repainted this summer for 300 wooooooo so the window trim and mirrors will be back to how it was suppose to be. plus the fender is dented so thats gonna be replaced or repaired....don't know most likely before the respray and clear coat applied yes sr5punk, those are the benefits of having a younger brother
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S can you link me to where you got the 5000k hid's? i cant find any, did u just buy bulbs or whole housings or what?
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S A friend of mine recommended these to me when we were working on his mazda 6. http://www.vvme.com/ They came with the bulbs, ballasts, wiring etc. I would recommend the Bi-Xenon HID kit since I got the single beam kit, which switch between HID for low beam and halogen for high beam. I might even buy the the Bi-Xenon HID kit when I have the chance.
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S U just installed the kit with ur stock housings? I have H4 diamond cut euro style lights right now but im really interested in those hid's. I'd assume u would need housings with interchangable bulbs(non sealed)
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S Update: my HID kit has the single beam HIDs in my JDM Raybrigs.....i already ordered my Bi-Xenons which should come in next week. So i'll make another update soon. Ok Well heres basically the set up of the HID kit: its comes with everything you see X2 This is HID light that i'm running, see the little light below thats your halogen high beam.... which sucks in lighting......thats why I recommend the Bi-Xenon. connects directly into the socket that we have For these HIDs to work, i had to buy unsealed or H4 specific Headlights. So I at first I bought these Autopals from Ebay which were recommended by ST165-2765 in one of his threads. I recently changed to the Raybrigs Autopal on right and sealed on left....of course Basically installation is pretty straight forward...like they said plug and play Bi-Xenon, from what the website said, would involve more hardware and wires but same concept of easy installation. those H4 diamond cut euro style light had H4 bulbs like the Autopals i have right? If so then yea they would fit, just specify on the website "H4" on the drop down list. hope this helps. will have pictures for the Bi-Xenons. OH!! one major tip: disconnect the battery cuz you might blow the ballast
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S Your car came with sealed beams? I see you got the new badge on already, where did you get the JDM indicators? Why didn't you just get crystal headlamps? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Toyota/Exterior/auction-215532689.htm Looking good
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S Ya mine are auto pal also, but the housings are really clear there's no stuff on the front lens like on ur raybrigs if u k ow what I mean
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S Nice work! Are you interested in writing/ transferring your info into how-to? I don't think we have anything there relating to headlight mods. -K
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S Stig: yea the car came with sealed beams which had minimal lighting which was terrible with my hard mountain drives at 3am, good thing for HIDs  I got the JDM indicators from rev_head from this forum. i never thought of getting crystal headlamps. I already had on my mine of getting raybrigs for my car. These raybrigs are from an SW20 MR2. 86CelicaGTS: how did you find those clear autopals, I couldn't find them....oh well...upgrade 89celicagt: Yea I could do another writeup for HIDs since I already did the cruise control removal writeup. I'm going to hopefully receive my bi-xenon HIDs next week so my installation would become a write up. Expect lots of pictures since I like taking pictures
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S ***UPDATE*** I received the Bi-Xenon HID kit on Tuesday....however I was too busy to post up cuz of school :? But hey now I can  Instead of 5000K Single Beam Xenon HIDs, I went for the 4300K for the Bi-Xenon HIDs Heres the Relay bundle Lights and Ballasts These I have to reuse on my raybrigs for the HIDs to stay in place I''l make another update when I'm installing them in the celica, most likely this weekend.
Re: st162rocket's 87' GT-S *UPDATE* Sorry for the long wait since i had my last couple of midterms with finals in the next 2-3 weeks. So I got the Bi-xenon light on and are incredible. really good visibility since I got the 4500K HIDs, ideal for mountain driving (ie: touge). Heres some pics of the installation I completely forgot about making them detailed since people wanted a write up for this....so I'll try my best with what I have. First things you need: -patience....since it took forever to figure out the placement of the wiring -philip screwdriver -size ten wrench -size 10 socket with ratchet -size 12 socket....or something close to disconnect the negative battery wire -double faced tape -5 or 6 zip ties To install the HIDs into the headlights its best to look at the installation instructions since thats what I followed and it also gave a good description on installing them. Disassemble the front of the car: just like that to get the maximum space. Also disconnect the battery since you need to manually need to retract the folding headlights Deciding the location of your HID ballasts: I personally chose directly behind the center grill since it needs constant cooling and air flow. the kit provides size 10 bolts and nuts to attach them here are some better pics of that: driver side passenger side notice that there is another wire connected to the frame that wire is from the kit since you need a ground for each light. I chose there for the convenience. Also use the zip ties to strap the bottom hole of the ballast support to the AC liquid tubes since they are very sturdy. Routing you wiring: Best place to start is at the battery your relay will be located there since you need to connect that to the positive terminal of the battery. WARNING: connecting to the battery is the FINAL STEP heres that wire, the one with the fuse on it. There is only one H4 connection so connect that connector to the H4 socket closest to the battery, most likely being the driver side. picture of wire routing on driver side: First wire to the right is the wire going to the passenger side the two wire on the left connect to the ballast for the driver side HID the best way for routing the wire going to the passenger is to route it into the front bumper cross member. It has four holes facing back towards the driver. Route the wire through the two inner holes coming out for the passenger side circle in yellow with the arrow pointing down on it Heres where it ends up Plug all together and connect to battery. result: Here are Low Beams Here are High Beams I don't know if you guys are able to tell the difference since im in my garage I'll try to get pics of them at night outside. Final Words: If everything is fine, attach zip ties to loose wires. Then reinstall front end parts. Your done. Heres a picture a the low beams...never got a high beam picture :? i used my Nikon D40x for this one...it came out pretty good i think  .....what ya guys think?
