    Hi guys,

My friend is trying to swap a s54 trans in my st162.
About this, Stig gave me a lot of advises and I bothered him a lot with my questions. Thank you so much Stig.

I thought I ordered the right parts until I noticed the st202 pressure plate won't fit my fidanza flywheel.

    My mistake: I ordered a st165 fw where (I think) I should have ordered a 5sfe flywheel.

So I will try to find another pressure plate.
Will the st185, st205 & MR2 Turbo pressure plates work with my fidanza ST165 flywheel and my ST202 disc & TO Bearing ?

    Thanks for your help.

    i used a 5sfe flywheel + 3sge pressure plate + 3sge throwout bearing + 3sge arm.
i'm not sure how the st165 flywheel differs.

the 165 flywheel is a 5sfe flywheel in the aftermarket world. same part. i imagine you ordered the wrong pressure plate. and yes, any turbo or v6 (fwd) pressure plate will bolt up.

when you guys are swapping you need:
the clutch disk and throw out bearing that match the transmission.
the pressure plate and flywheel that match the engine.

I ordered a clutch kit for the transmission (ST202), the pressure plate was slightly smaller.
Then, I ordered a ST165 pressure plate, now the gearbox is in the car.
Not yet running though, still need to plug some stuff, I will change oil and filters as well before starting it again.

Another problem was the connection of the starter. The "+" plug isn't the same on the ST162 & ST202 starter. had to make modifications on the plug, But I think it's not water proof anymore...

What's the difference between 5SFE & 3SGTE flywheel ? On the pictures, the 5FSE fw looks to be able to fit smaller pp (not sure about this) that's why I thougth 5FSE fw could fit ST202 pp.

IF it's aftermarket, generally it has oval holes. the ones that have this trait will fit all versions of the 3sgte, 3sge and 5sfe.

    It's working !!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally have my ST162 S54 and it feels great. Gearbox is much better than the S53...
I felt so happy driving the car back home.
The rev. feeling seems a bit different, certainly because of the lightweight flywheel, but I like it.

Thanks everybody for your help, especially Stig.

I know that the Fidanza fw can fit 5FSE & 3SG(T)E.
But there is 2 different references for 5FSE & 3SGTE Celicas.
I was wondering, if the crank fitment is the same for these references, then what's the difference ? Probably pressure plate fitment.
So if I chose the 5SFE fw instead of the 3SGTE I probably could use standard clutch kit instead of (loosing money) making hybrid clutch (ST202 disk + bearing / ST165 pressure plate).

The good point: next time I change the clutch, I will order larger disk from ACT.
    It will probably last longer.
