OK, If you read in my thread, he went down with no warning. I stopped at the end of my driveway to get the mail, as soon as I walked around the back, he sputtered and died. Things I have done to this point are as follows... Replaced dizzy/distributor twice 2 caps (noticed the rotor pin spring was bad in one) 3 ignitors found bare wires to dizzy/distributor plug, repaired that. I sprayed ether into the intake to see it was a fuel delivery problem...not that Still have compression, so I didn't pop a timing belt... I get power from the coil to the dizzy/distributor, but no to the plugs... I don't have an extra coil to see if it is not shooting enough voltage, in the process of getting another one... I don't have another ECU to plug in to check if it popped it... I followed the harness around a little, and see no fusable links anywhere... I checked fuses and all look OK. Relays are impossible to tell, and I have no extras to change them out... I do have an extra engine harness, but would hate to cut it up, but if that has to be an option, I will.... Did I miss anything??? I'm kinda bamboozled... Any other ideas???
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! :eek5 I've never had one go down, so I don't know the symptom of one doing so.... :banghead
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! struggles to idle, then dies :sad You can test yours with a multimeter to see if it's ok viewtopic.php?f=55&t=7217
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! I wish it would struggle to idle :hehe . Just keeps turning over with no signs of wanting to start at all.... I'm perplexed... :cuss .... Discombobulated even.... :eek5 Still maintaining intestinal fortitude... :hsdance
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! Technically the air flow meter is a fuel pump switch also so if it was bad or wasn't plugged in just so the car won't start.
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! Not sure how cold it is out there, but I forgot to mention the CS injector time switch. I had a horrible time trying to get the GT-S started when mine went bad this winter.
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! OK... I got out the digital multimeter, and did an ohms check on the AFM. Granted, I'm not an expert at electronics, but I tried every setting on the meter, and trip;e checked all the checks they say to do, and nothing came out to spec.... I've never had one go down while I was running. The Red Lady had a bad one from sitting forever before I replaced the engine, so it never started and threw a code instantly... I think ??? this may be it ???? :fingersx
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! I did run the alternate ground also.... No luck there.... :banghead :banghead
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! GODDAMN IT.... Cross your fingers, MAN !!!!!!! :fingersx :lachtot
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! Another distributor installed....NOTHIN.... :cuss :banghead :cuss OK, I'm now sure it's not that... :colbert Coil en route... AFM and ECU located.... hnoes After that... I may end up with yard art...... :aargh
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! oh fuck. LOl. well if i dont get my ticking sound shit sorted out then we'll have two yard arts.
Re: Square One DOWN.... Square One DOWN !!!!! Well.... I chopped up my extra harness for a different distributor plug/lead, installed it, and still NOTHING :cuss :aargh Now, I'm getting a little sauced.... Ignition starts power to the system, car turns over, CHECK... Keeps turning over until I smell raw gas...getting fuel....CHECK... I hear compression, and visual of timing belt in place....CHECK... Fire from all components to the distributor.....CHECK... NO fire from distributor to plugs.... :aargh :banghead :cuss :cuss :toetap05 :cuss :banghead ...FAIL !!!!!! Coil not enough fire ??? Maybe, have one in transit.... Ignitor failure ??? 4 different with same result.... Doubtful Distributor ??? 4 different with same result.... Doubtful Cap-Rotor ??? 3 different with same result.... Doubtful Wires ??? 2 different with same result.... Doubtful Fuses??? All checked and operational.... Doubtful Relays ??? Can't check them (Is there a way?) ... Possible ECU ??? Don't have and extra, never heard of one failing... Tending to lead to this as the problem. Anyone....anyone ever had, or heard of this problem with a successful repair ???? I'm at my wit's end with this one....
