Spring seat SST and brake line question

Anyone have experience w/ the Tirerack "Goodridge G-Stop Brakeline Kit" for $115? I'm changing my springs so thought I might as well upgrade the brake lines while they're off. If not Goodridge, other choices/preferences?

My BGB says to use a spring seat holder SST (09729-22031) while removing the retaining nut. It looks like a plated vise grip - which I have. What have others used to hold the spring seat, or do I have to spend $$$ on a Toyota SST?

    Thanks.

SST for holding spring seat while removing retaining nut on top of strut assembly. Other guys have said to slightly crack it while still on the car, then remove the assembly, compress the spring and finish removing it. Just want to make sure that's a safe way to go or is there a more common tool I can use to grip the spring seat while breaking the retaining nut loose.

go to autozone and get some spring compressors. that's all you need. and an impact gun and vise grips just incase.

I run the Goodridge Brakelines on my track car, they work great with lots less pedal effort required. I also use Russell Speedbleeders so I can do one-man brake bleeding, you can buy them at Summit Racing. For brake fluid I use Valvoline SynPower DOT4/5, this has a higher boiling point than most other brake fluids.

As for SST, I use some fairly cheap spring compressors from Advance Auto, cost like $17 for the set. It is never a good idea to remove the top nut from the strut without compressing the springs, they pack enough power to take your head off.

I have the goodridge ss lines. They are great, made a big difference, less effort, less brake fade (if any) and then I got hawk pads which just help bite and when warmed up and sticky as fuck. I love'em and bought them when they were 70 bux. Great brake upgrade. Make sure you dont let the lines rub on the frame/strut though. Its like sand paper and I heard if you cover it in shrink wrap or some kind of sleeve its not much of a problem. Do it!
