A hairdryer works fine for removing stickers, heatguns can reach 600 degC and can do a lot of damage, cause fires, burn skin etc. Give the hairdryer time to cool down or be prepared for some silent treatment.

A plastic paint scraper or the wife's credit card can also be used (at least it'll be put to good use) to lift stickers and get a grip on them.
Try to pull as much of the sticker off as possible using your fingers and you'll have less glue residue.

The glue residue can be a bastard sometimes - esp when removing d/sided tapes!
Tip there is to soak the area with Mineral Turpentine (from the hardware or supermarket).
Leave it to soften the glue for 10 minutes and it will rub off more easily - repeat if neccessary.
It won't affect Duco, Clearkote or 2K paints

We often use Mineral Turpentine to "polish out" sunburnt or stained body panels prior to polishing.

On badly stained panels, panels with uneven clearkote layers or ridges - we use a household cleaning paste wetted with water or Turpentine.
Jif, Ajax come to mind but you could also use toothpaste if needed.
Use a circular motion and rub lightly and slowly as it's VERY abrasive and can cut through the paint if not careful.
The toothpaste trick also works wonders on scratched CD's and DVD's, lenses etc

When working with new products always do a test on a hidden area first!
