I'm going to repaint my St162 soon. It's white but will be repainted a very dark blue. Was wondering whether the side strips and the line on front & rear bumpers should be repainted satin black, body colour coded or removed altogether.
Any ideas? I'm thinking of staying with them satin/semi gloss black along with the front spoiler but i've seen a couple colourcoded or removed and that looks good too....

For me, no doubt. They must be black.

keep them black as there are more black details on the car at your windows for example. That makes it a complete picture.

-youll want to remove them. that way you can repair and repaint underneath ...its a must. there double stick taped on. use 3m adhesive remover, there rubber and are very forgiving and flexible to take off. just clean them with the adhesive remover then paint them with SEM trim paint (semi-gloss black). dont scuff or sand them otherwise it will show through the paint. plasit dip is also a good option.

-mine did have a bit of rust and peeling bondo underneath from a previous cheap-o repair job (not me)

I'm going matte black or plasti dip for my side moldings. The moldings really do compliment the car and just says its all 80's. The car has aged well though.

Black and keep 'em on - the streamlines 'shaved' look gets ruined pretty easy with a few parking lot dents.

-yep, i put my kit on with the side mouldings off. looked wierd until i put them back on. makes a huge difference.

-semi-gloss is the correct color, not matte. matte (flat) will appear grey. plasti dip comes somewhere inbetween depending on the surface, but is very forgiving and smooths perfectly if done right.

    PLASTI DIP RUUUUULLLES!!!! :mrgreen

Yup........ Lazy people tend to want to park as close as possible to the grocery store hence more damage.......... I will never follow these sheep.

    My White Lightning for example.

Thanks very much for your opinions. The original look works best I agree but they need to come off to paint under.
I'll post some before and after photos when it's all done.
