hey guys, i have an 86' celica GTS. i manage to scrape on just about everything but the ride isnt bouncy. i also have a ton of nose dive when i brake, leading me to believe i need new springs? i am wondering if this is right or if i actually need new shocks and struts. or if this isnt enough info maybe let me know how to tell which i may need. thanks
push the car down on the bumper (hard) it should go down up then stop if thats what it did then your shocks are good. sounds like you need new springs but since your going down there anyways might as well replace the whole thing shock and spring.
alright thanks, what companies have the shocks and for about how much?? i looked around the forum and found all the companies that do the springs but i couldn't find the shocks or their prices.
well i got koni's and b&g on mine (theres other sets there cheaper ones) i just bought the set @ shocks.com and it cost like 750. theres other places someone should post the links.
If your looking for just stock replacement shocks check out Candian tire. I'm pretty sure they have some monroe ones for pretty cheap. They also sell some kyb gr-2's for a pretty good price at tirerack.com .. Here's the link.. http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/Susp ... &brand=all
this maybe a stupid question but do the shocks and springs fit the same 86-89 GT-S?? so could i use 89 shocks or springs in my 86? i'm guessing yes but you can never be too sure
The struts and springs are all the same. I'd recommend the KYB GR-2's. They are affordable and offer decent performance, basically a stock replacement part.
random question that i hope some people will answer (since this is an old thread and its now somewhat off topic) but what shocks and springs are yall running and do you like them??? (im just trying to choose which ones to get... right now im leaning towards eibach since they have the least drop in ride hight and roads around Toronto suck... alot)
snyder, crazy achmed, and myself are all running custom jobs in the rear with agx on all 4 corners. though every one of us is using different springs. CA is using eibachs, snyder is using b+gs and im on intrax
and are you all happy with your respective springs or are you gonna go with something else when the time comes?
we are all happy with our selection, but it seems that the shocks are either agx or koni. there isn't much stray from that.
hum... ok thanks, i guess i'll go with eibach then just to keep the ride height a little closer to stock. i'll havta do some reading on those shocks and also check my service records to see if my uncle replaced the shocks somewhat recently because they look pretty new to me... might just be chance though
