Someone please help me, one of my cam seals decided to work its way out of its spot and i lost oil like crazy, thats not even the real issue, the problem i am having is i went to autozone and orileys and bought the seals i needed for the repair, had to buy one from each store since thats all they had in stock. The problem is the seals they gave me are for the 3s-fe and not the 3s-ge engine, their computers and every one elses all show the exact same part numbers for the two engines, however the seals are two different sizes, the fe seals are too large in diameter and dont even seal against the camshaft properly, and they are wider than the original ones as well. Clearly not the right part so where can i order these dang seals and actually get the correct ones and get them by tomorrow????? Gawd i hope someone out there can help me this is driving me bonkers. Or if someone has a spare set laying around id gladly buy them from ya plus shipping.

I may have kind of figured out why i am having this issue with these seals,, there is a sticker on my timing cover stating in 1990 something the timing belt was replaced and in the valley where my spark plugs are there is a set of numbers on the head like a part number a mechanic would write on it, so the real question is what head do i have that would have slightly smaller seals in it than the 89 3sge would normally have? its definately a 3sge head as the oil pressure sender is on the side with the distributor and not on the front like a fe has. Is it possible the head is from a gte instead of a ge? are they different? if anyone knows anything at all plz let me know, if i can figure this out then ill have the problem solved and will be hauling ass again

this one i took as soon as i found the problem, as you can see the old seal fell out of where it is supposed to be causing a huge oil leak.

Thanks!!!.... i did some more research and found that 90 percent of the parts the stores have for my car are in fact for the fe engine and not for the ge engine. Even when told specifically which engine it is. Hell they even sold me the wrong distributor cap, i took one look at it and damn near yelled at them. THe fe dizzy is not even close to the ge dizzy. I did order a complete engine gasket kit for my ge since i cannot count on any parts store to give me the right parts and i still have the oil pump seal and the front main seal. That will be the last of the leaks i hope. of course while im at it im going to change the water pump and timing belt as well. A question though, what is the legnth of the timing belt for the ge and what is it for the fe? that way i can make sure i get the correct one when i buy them. Another thing, anyone who gets a celica should just go ahead and invest in a gasket kit for their engine, i really wish someone would have told me to do that, ive replaced most of the gaskets on my engine before i finally dicided to get one. oh well ill have extras laying around lol.

Check with these folks for better quality gaskets and seals than stock.....http://realstreetperformance.com/Shop-by-Engine/3SGTE/

Also for lower cost standard gaskets and seals, check with.....www.rockauto.com

As a last resort, and if you don't mind paying Dealer cost, check your local Toyota Dealer.
My choice for Toyota Direct Dealer Parts, I get all mine from www.trdsparks.com
On the West Coast, check with the folks at Cabe Toyota, they are pretty big on Old School Yotas...http://www.cabetoyota.com/parts/index.htm

Rock Auto lists the correct timing belt length for our GE engines, and actually sales a High Performance (race) timing belt for our cars......http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=3819279&cc=1273968

Oh yes there are cheaper ones. Go to the www.rockauto.com site and check for your model year and engine, they ship internationally, so it's no big deal, will cut out the middle man so to speak!!
