i'm assuming the northsouth crossmember. is it the radiator support one? or the one on the chassis at the end of the firewall?

    Whats wrong with them ?

Most common problem is broken bolts

only one solution !!!!!!!! shitloads of heat, get that bolt glowing red hot and it will slide out like butter
you'll be amazed at how easy the bolt will turn when its glowing hot.

for this firewall bolt I would drill a hole in its center first so I can get a bolt extractor in it then
shitloads of heat and someone inside the car with a fire extinguisher !!!!!
If you don't want to risk setting the car on fire then I would drill out the bolt and tap it for an
    over sized replacement bolt

I don't think the rear bolts are as critical as the front bolts. the rear end of the front to back
support is held up pretty well by the side to side cross menber which is held in place by some
    nice beefy 19mm bolts

You must also consider the purpose of the front to rear support member
its only real purpose is to prevent the engine from twisting under torque
the 2 engine mounts that attach to the front to rear support member do
not support the weight of the engine/tranny that is the job of the 2 mounts
that attach to the strut towers/ frame rails.

I have never repaired the firewall bolt. The rear of the front to rear support
member on my car only has one functional bolt but with the cross member
and 19mm bolts underneath it holding it in place I think 2 bolts was overkill
    and I'll live with 1

I nee to actually get in and replace the mount on the inside I think. I'll get it off soon and be able to figure out what exactly broke. My rear came completely off.

iirc sean had to fix one. i think its just a nut welded on the inside. so youd have to cut open the panel and weld a new one in place.
