Gday guys. I have been doing alot of painting over the years, so I am not too shy to do a project like this. I just bought a huge amount of new gloss black spray cans off a mate who accidently got gloss when he needed matte for a project of his, so I got these for dirt cheap, so thought why not give it a shot. I have the celica in my garage jacked up on jack stands with no shocks or wheels as we speak. I was already going to re paint the stock rims black, so I am gonna paint the whole car black! right now it is a silver ish colour (I dont know the exact shade, but its a silvery/ bronze colour). I love black cars, and this celica with black rims, black paint, dark tinting (tinting getting done at mates rates), and darkened tail lights and a nice front and rear bumper, I reckon it will look meeeeeannnnnn.

What I plan on doing, is painting one panel a day/ two days (depending on the size of the panel, like the roof which would probably take a bit more then two days). Im also gonna do a before and after image, so stay tuned to see what a cheap garage re spray can look like :D wish me luck, I will be on here with the after shot in about a week (hopefully :p ).

I used to have a false wall in the garage and it used to be my bedroom :p so a few weeks ago I moved to upstairs (finally a space was cleared in the room upstairs lol) so when I cleaned out the garage, I used my compressor and blew out the garage and swept it... for a few hours :p Its probably not going to be a perfect finish, but in all honesty, whats wrong with having a bit of a different paint job? I have seen cars that were obviously done with rattles, that if done properly and treated properly, the sort of noticeable imperfect texture actually looks really cool. Well, since I am doing one panel a day, I will be trying very hard to get it all right, and because im going all black, this may be my chance to get rid of the tacky black plastic trimming around the car (many people like it, but I think that it will just look dumb on a black car...) Thanks guys, will keep ya posted.

I need some opinions... I have the stock rims that I will probably be keeping (unfortunately my budget does not mean I can buy any new rims + tires any time soon ;( ) so I was going to ask, what colour should I paint em? keep in mind, the whole car will be a little lowered, all black, with nice front and rear bumper and an obvious spoiler (obvious being not a low profile spoiler :p ) I was thinking of painting the rims black, but dont know whether thats just going overboard or not? the rims are in pretty crappy condition, thats why I wanna paint em! thanks guys. btw: bonnet and roof has been painted, took a while cuz I have alot on my plate with work, but all should be done within the next 1-2 weeks.

I like the black on black as well don't think it will be overboard maybe white might look good as well. If it was me I would stick to
base coat clear coat the car black and rims matt black can't wait to see your car finished

Black on black? Tinted windows? Yup she'll look good, trust me I know :D Although depends on what your rims look like when you're choosing a color to paint them. I chose to paint mine black, 3 spoke :(, also because they would get dirty if white and also because black 3 spoke looks more sinister. Check out Celica_gt-i's thread for some white wheels. I think white paint on a 5 spoke would look better than black on most applications. Makes your car stand out too.

I will probably just stick with black rims. Id rather a more stealthy looking car :D roof and bonnet is not fully painted, wont load up any photos yet, will only load up a pic we nthe entire cars done :p im excited! I also have a spoiler to go on the back, but am trying to figure something out. For this spoiler, should I attach it onto that stock rear spoiler that all the st162's have, or take that whole section out and attach it to the cars actual body? I think taking off the stock spoiler will look better, I will try and find some pix.

Got 4 15inch alloys with tyres for $90 tonight, im happy :D they were so cheap also because the paint is chipping off, so more the reason for me to... paint em black :D
