is it posible to remove the Cylinder block without removing the Transmisson? I was checking out the Big Green Book and they only show it coming out with the Transmition (the proper way) i am hoping i can disconnect the transmition from the Block before removal. I ask this because i am kind of limited on time for removal so i am hoping i can 'pass' a few steps. Thanks
It will take you much longer to unbolt the gearbox in situ, just drop the lot. If you know your way around a spanner you can have the engine and box dropped in 4 hours. Lining up the clutch in situ is a ballache, out of the car is easy.
actually you practically have to remove the trans to get the block off it anyways. you might as well pull the whole damn thing. how is the project coming along?
Yea i was looking at it again, and i you guys are right it will just be esier that way. The project is good, a little slow due to Cash flow but good. After getting the head off i realised i should have just taken out the whole block anyways, because getting it on with the block in would be alot harder. Right now i have just been cleaning up all the engine parts and preparing them for painting while i look for a used Engine Hoist. Once i pull the block I'll do the waterpump timeing belt, clutch cylinder, engine mounts, etc. i am aiming to have it back in the car and running by october. if i don't i think my wife will kill me as everything is sitting in the spare bedroom in our apartment
