Blew out the light grid on my cluster, everything else works fine. I have a spare GT cluster here. I plugged it in and the lights work fine. Best I can tell they look the same, but has anyone tried it? Need help ASAP as my car is torn apart and I have to work tomorrow...

    Thanks !!!

    OK

I swapped the circuit boards, and they interchange as far as I can tell (I haven't driven it yet to see if the tach calibration is the same.). I forgot to put in one screw on the back of the circuit board that runs the tach circuit. I disassembled everything to screw it in, and I think i screwed up this circuit board !!!! The lites stopped working again. So I took the screw back out that I didn't put int to see if that could have been the problem.... Nope.

Switched to a different bulb, and got them back working. I'm thinking the hi-power 1 watt LED's are too much for the relay. I went back to the 5 LED SMD's, but went with the bright white ones this time.... I like alot !!!

My patience with the car is getting real thin still.... I keep dumping money, but no love in return....

    Conclusion:

The circuit boards on the clusters DO interchange.

The only problem I can see is the ABS light don't light up, I may just need to change the bulb socket placement. I've taken the thing out 4 times today, and I can live without it for now.

All functions well, and is very easy to do once the cluster is out, just make sure you put all the ground/mount screws back in so everything will work... All of these are different sizes, so make sure you reference which screw goes where.

I did fry the GTS circuit board somehow, and am running the GT one right now. I will update any changes if I find any...

my GT cluster has been fried several times especially when i was trying to make it so it works with both my digi cluster and analog one.

go through all the connections and usually, it will be a part of the metal running through the board that has fried and severed as a result. what i did was just solder these together and the cluster works again.

Yeah I've used FE clusters in GE's and visa versa without problems.

The problem child is the AT160 cluster - DON'T install it on a ST162!
You can swap out the gauges but the panel wiring is different.

The rear circuit boards are real easy to fix if you have a multimeter, some nichrome wire and a soldering iron
If a a track is too badly damaged you can even solder in a wire directly to the plug pins
