Here we have a 1985 Toyota Celica SX - ST162 model named "Nuttie" (due to the colour similar to a nut or a squirrel who likes nuts lol)

I bought it from a friend of mine, he was a top bloke and was very generous with the spare parts included with the car.

The idea behind the car was to have a project to work on with my gf. We wanted a blank canvas to work on and create something we can enjoy on the weekend. We both have our daily cars so there was no rush in getting it on the road.

The car was well packed to say the least hahaha I'm suprised the tow truck driver didn't mind lol

here is the front of the car, unfortunately part of the lip is broken (i think this happened on the tow truck). Will be super easy to find a replacement or I will try and repair that one. Thats me on the right.

I've got the original drivers side panel, it just has a dent that needs to be pushed out. The paint doesn't look like its been damaged from the dent so I may be lucky.

Engine bay. I am aiming to install extractors at some stage, they will make a great improvement to the engine bay visuals :)

The trim under the bonnet had sagged and was touching the exhaust manifold heat shield.

Here is me concentrating on something. I can't remember exactly what it was. I've been told I look like Moog from MCM lol

The interior is nice and neat too. Will be sure to replace the pedal pads to some new ones. If I can find some cheap Celica ZR alloy ones they will go on instead.

The aim for the car is to get it up and running and just do some minor modifications to the engine and suspension. Its currently resting on pedders springs and King Spring Super Lows. We will eventually retrim the whole interior, i'll chuck on a drift wheel and some nice recaro seats.

I am tempted to do a full black suede interior at some stage.

Any comments on the project so far are more than welcome :)

Welcome from the UK. This looks like it's going to be a very interesting project indeed, really looking forward to reading about this.

What are your other daily drivers ?

    Hey Mate,
Thanks for that :) I just scored a set of GTR ST162 Electric seats which are going in asap.

My daily driver is a 1998 Toyota Caldina GTT (recently undertook a manual conversion on it)

My girl friend drives a 2004 Suzuki Liana (known as an Aerio in other countries).

We never got the Caldina in the UK.

What made you go for a generation 4 Celica ?

Nice, looks like you are in OZ somewhere?

    Bonnet mat is typical
Front spoiler is hard to get in good nick, plastic repair might be your best bet, I still have a Corona solid version lying here somewhere.
I have a long thread on how I rebuilt my ST162, may be useful to you too as I went for 182 headers and combined many other parts from later models as well.
