My steering has become stiff and not smooth and light like it should be. The steering feel is uneven: it's hard in some places and ok in others and doesn't return easily after a turn. I'm wondering if it's my power steering pump and hoping it's not the steering rack. Any way to tell the difference? Power steering fluid level is good and I bled the air out. Suspension components appear in good shape.
Checked the belt and it's ok. If its failing, will the PS pump whine or make any noises or can it just die quietly? My PS pump isn't making noises, so that's making me wonder if it's the rack instead (hope not...)
