My ST162 has the pre-facelift /series 1 factory alloys, I think they are aluminium? In any case, they are a little scratched. Can these be wet-sanded and then polished to look good again? Can they be polished up to have a shine to them?
OMG thats hawt! And i just bought that exact cover on Saturday at the wreckers and have been thinking of a way to make it look different.
I was thinking about polishing a set up, painting them with high temp engine enamel, and polishing the lettering. Has anyone ever anodized their covers?
I was kind of thinking about anodizing my covers, but it seems rather expensive... lol I could do it myself, if I could get a tub that long, and slightly wider. All you need is clothing dye, you can get it at the grocery store, and a battery charger. But yeah, I might just get some light blue colored high temp paint, to match my paint, and get some mag polish. I know everyone uses mothers, but I have another brand that I prefer. I am drawing a blank right now, holidays make me dizzy! lol Too much money loss causes dizziness, anxiety, and irritability. Diagnosis may be necessary from a physician! lol
some 5th gen AT owner has his wheels like that... IMO its too blingy for my tastes... now... just the lip sexy
mhmm now i jst need some of those valve covers to match my shiny zorst manifold heat shield thing lol , i just used some sand paper on the rusty bits and then a stelo pad to get rid of the paint and water , havent even used polish yet and it looked good
I think, wheels should be darker, not shiny.... lol I personally like anthracite colored rims, gun metal, or a metallic black... Nice exhaust cover! Very nice. Under the hood is the only place to have nice and shiny stuff!
It just seems better to have a set of dark rims, they are less ugly when they are dirty, meaning they pick up less dirt in sight. A polished, or chrome rim, picks up everything, from brake pad dust, dirt, and grime... They also oxidize! At least the polished ones do... The chrome rims just chip...
Want to do the rims soon, wondering what will happen with the centercaps though, cant use metal polish on plastic...so it wud turn out diff.....Dunno if i want to leave the center caps off tho. Any ideas? Perhaps colours to paint, etc?
Not really. Going for the actual polished alloy look, its different to stainless steel IC piping for example.
i almost didnt put my center caps back on the wheels look pretty BA with them off...they still may come off
