It's a chain reaction, the more people we meet, the more people will find the site.
    Meet & greet I say

As far as I'm concerned, it's motorheads that recognize and appreciate these cars,
let Joe soap admire rice, the're not the guys you want owning these classics anyway.

The reaction I got from Russia and Africa was amazing, those guys would kill to own one,
so I don't think you realize how lucky you are.

I wanted one for 18yrs and moved 1/2 round the world before I could fulfill the dream,
it's not the world's best car, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and for the same money
there are very few other options

to be honest guys i wouldnt buy anyother car..i think all the other celicas look like girls cars *no offence* but there all curvy and smooth but the think the wedge shape look of the 4th gen is just perfet, it looks like its going 100 standing still and i love it! i rebuilt my engine so its well up over 210 N/A and it just leaves everything on the road sitting! i love it! but to be honest i should have focused on the drivetrain well before i focused on the engine!! :( hands like a greased up pig in muck... but soon to fix that! i love the look that people give you when you arrive and then when you leave them for dust they just say i want one of those!! :p but i think my favourite part has got to be the engine andd the rocker covers!! no other toyota comes close to how they look on the fourth gen!!

i think i might actually have the only one in ireland and ive yet to see another one on the road... PLUS!!! mines a 1990!! i didnt think they made them then! :D

sounds cool, start a car thread so we can see your baby, plus let the N/a guys in on our you got 210 from it, is it swapped for a later gen ge or beams, coz 210 on a gen ge is a hellva gain over the 146 they do normally. :D

ya i know its a gen 1 but its a yamaha beams!! puls like nothing else there a 1.8 crank in it and wossner pistons that are throwing out 13.5 bar of pressure!! and cams! some machine to pull!!! i clocked it at 143!! easy! and still going but ran outa road! :D with the old engine i only got 127 but the new one has 16 miles extra, plus i changed the gearbox because the old one went almost straight away!

ST182 production started 08/89, that must be the last one sold, old stock maybe?

13,5:1 is Methanol/Toulene/105 RON country - where/what you running it on?
16:1 and you could feed it diesel :)

I'm surprised the 4S-FE crank is still holding out too, is it 86 or 87mm pistons?

As I remember Yamaha struggled to reach 290hp for the BTCC with 2000cc,
be interesting to analyze that motor (2200cc?)

Does it look like this 300hp 5S-GE version?

its a crank out of the new celica according to the machinist i brought it to i sent the engine out to poland to get the cyclinder head and crank done... im running it on jjust normal petrol! seems to be fine, the pistons im using are 3/4 of an inch above the block whick is like a fraction off touching the cyclinder head...i got forged con rods aswell and the crank and bearings were fully remachined and new bearings put in...but i think i have a small problem with my tvis, i dont get that sudden kick or change in the exhaust tone....i think it light be a leak in one of the pipes ill try and post up pics of it with the compression tester if i can

What injectors are you running now? I Have never heard of using the latest crank from the 140 and 190 engines, would love to know more.
Are you still on the stock ECU, as with cams in there, I would have thought you would change the point you would want the T-VIS, you can get aftermarket tools to change the operation point, but the ones I have seen don't work that well?
What filter and exhaust system do you run?

Sorry for the questions, but you are one of the first ever gen 1 Ges that I have come across running over 200bhp. Fensport built up an gen 1 ST162, with re built head, cams, etc and only got 177bhp for their customer.

Nice to hear from the irish contingient,im not going to cast aspersions on your ride at all mate but over 200 from that unit even with hefty fettling is ambitious,as a sort of comparison story i remember that 200+was always the utopia for the good ol'8v pintos in the day,but when roaded at the flywheel even now most are around the 185+mark using top line throttle bodies and emerald ECU's.However if youre tearing strips off the Plastics with their neons then all strength to ya :D

well im only on the standard injectors at the mo... because funds are a bit low...like everybody else ... i didnt bother to change the ecu. i just wanted a standard car that has a hidden monster if ya get me? :p so when you beat somebody in a race and open your bonnet and they look and see just a standard looking engine they kick themselve after spending soo much on there own!!!iv got the origional yamaha manifold... i didnt see much point in changing it as i thought the would have made a good job of it anyway but i will consider it! hks cams on there way too not to worry!!!:p k & N panel filter, does the job and keeps quite!

hks does not make cams for the gen 1
there is no way you have 210 from a gen 1 on pump gas
it is physically impossible to have a piston extrude past the block and not hit the head.
the standard ecu simply cannot house that power
the 1.8l crank won't even come close to matching up in our block, and the head won't even attemp to bolt on

just for a FYI the most powerful 3sge only puts out 210 crank hp, fully upgraded and set to run in the atlantic motorsport class it wouldn't even hit 300. and that has dual vvti and venturies in the intake manifold.

i hate to burst bubbles and i hope not to scare you off, i can understand being young and/or wrongly/misinformed. hopefully you can get you straightened out and help you do what you want with your car.

piston is 3/4 of an inch over the block...

your right about the cames!!! i read the wrong part! there kelford cams!! whoops...
    http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/perform ... ngine/Cams

i didnt beleive the machinest i brought it to the first time when he told me that the crank was much smaller than what it should be... so i sent the engine to poland to get the work done... and he said the same thing... acl bearings wouldnt fit they were too loose soo the machinest in poland had too buy them and he measured the crank and he said it was the exact same as the new one from the 1.8 ... not my wod... im just saying what the two machinests told me...

i dont know what octane you have in america but in the emerald isle we have 98 octane
if you want more pics ill post them when i get time but the whole cylinder head was ported and fully refurbished.

he put all new coated valves and cups with tighter springs...i thought myself that it was a bit off but it seems to pull a hell of alot more than any of the other 3sge's ive seen?? :? so i was just taking it for granted thats what it was??? because that was what it was rated for by the machinest?? and with a compression ratio ive never seen so high on any other engine??? well im happy to agree with you if you can just help me boost it up near 200...then ill be thrilled! :) i dont honestly care what has too be done to get there ill get it sorted! but i still want my engine silky smooth is all im goin to say!! :D

ah domed pistons. made the non-interference motor an interference motor. well then sir, good times. the bearings were prob for a 1.8 i'm sure you have a standard ge crank in there.
nice find on the cams. very good. throw the ecu in the trash and get a stand alone unit. go ITB. should be getting close.

Will post on your thread mate, sounds like you have a good base. the Toyota ECU is junk, big hold back, so if you plan to keep the car, thats worth a serious look.
