oil pressure messing with idle?

does anyone know if having low oil pressure can mess with the start up idle of a car? i have had this weird problem with the car having a dying idle after starting and turning off the car if i am making lots of trips during the day. when i start it up and i see the idle low and dying out i notice that the oil pressure gauge is at its lowest point. when i rev the engine the rpm raise, oil pressure gauge raises and the idle is better. so thus the question of oil pressure affecting idle. cuz im thinking that maybe my pump is on its way out or the pressure regulator or something along those lines. thanks for an info or background. i am taking this issue to a toyota tech in a few weeks and to have them check for other problems.

Throwing in my 2 cents here, i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure your oil pressure won't affect your idle, it's actually more like your idle effects the pressure in that engine needs to be running so the belt turns the pump and builds oil pressure, you know because oil pressure needs to build up it's not just contained in there so i think not.

I'd be looking elsewhere for your problem. the usual stuff first, plugs, Timing, Dizzy, rotor button etc. make sure they're all good, checking the plugs regularly should also give you a good indication of your engines condition, i check mine every few weeks just to make sure things are running the way they should.

maybe you just need to adjust the idle?

okie dokie. thanks guys. just changed out the plugs. my idle is a little high. its just a really weird problem. i will try and capture a video of it so i can show you how it acts. next on the list is a cap and rotor and possibly a new dizzy. not to sure. need to change the gasket on the dizzy also as there is some lovely oil around the cap. thanks again

you guys realize toyotas idle oil pressure is under 20psi. it is extremely low compared to anybody else.
