Will these bolt up to the rest of my exhaust?

    This is my current setup:
I haven't modified anything having to do with the exhaust; it was like this when I bought the car.

    stock manifold minus the cat
    [IMG]

    No flex pipe or resonator

Then there is this old aftermarket muffler that has probably been on like 5 different cars
    [IMG]

Just look at how it is attached:facepalm
    [IMG]
that's three different pieces of incrementally bigger pipes welded together to go from the stock pipe to the inlet on that muffler.

Will these headers bolt to this flange?

ive thought about those, the easiest way to go would to get a new exhaust system at the same time....its only like 500 to do minus the header attached and if ou install it and then tow it to the shop then it saves you money in the long run anyways, and i would get a flex pipe, our gonna crack something sooner or later.

I was planning on getting a new system at some point. I would like to start with the headers though.

That is a good point about the flex pipe. When I first got the car, it had the original motor mounts which were worn out and allowed the motor to move A LOT. So much so that when I was moving in reverse i could hear the muffler banging against the bumper. But now I have solid poly mounts and it no longer does that.

The stock manifold has that bracket securing it to the block, but I don't think the headers bolt to that bracket. So all the stress would be on the studs around the exhaust ports. you don't want stress there.
