but you can use a gen 1 harness on a gen 2 motor. you can also swap the gen 2 harness and ecu into a 4g.
The advantage would be full sequential injection(atleast for the alltrac). Plus a harness that isn't as worn out.
I swapped a JDM Gen2 3sgte in my 88 GTS, so its a Celica Gen and Engine Gen swap. LOL! The cheapest and most reliable way is this and Willie can speak too: JDM Parts: St185 Engine 93 JDM MR2 ECU (14 psi bone stock) 93 JDM MR2 ignitor Any Gen2 AFM St185 Turbo Pressure Sensor USDM Parts: St185 wiring harness (I cut the EGR plug) 3sfe manual trans 88 GTS axels St165 radiator (to start with) St185 flywheel and pressure plate 88 GTS Clutch Disc Willie and I both have this setup! I don't want to know what he will be pushing out next!! We just had a meet in Maryland were I hit 232hp to the wheels! Shocked the shit out of most people. Thanks, Chris Snyder
Wow  ..i think i may have to swicth lanes in the middle of my n/a build. . One question?...Why a 3sfe man trans? Is The 3sge trans is weaker?
something about closer gear ratios and more ideal for racing...unlike the 3sge trans which is longger and geared for top end speed iirc. but both are equally strong.
Because the starter for the 3SGE tranny is where the turbo goes. So, you have to use a 3SFe tranny, unless you decied to take apart the housing from the stock 3SGTE tranny and install it onto your 3SGE tranny, it won't work.
And for the record, Willie is running a JDM 165 3SGTE (Gen 1) with a Gen 1 Harness, and Nemesis ECU(as of yesterday) No Gen 2 motor about that one.
Ahh..thats true..Well thats cool..i still have my 3sfe engine and tranny from my 90 cam so its a good thing i kept it. How much should a gen 2 3sgte run..?
