A few days ago I was driving home from work, pushed the clutch in, went to grab a gear and i just hit brick walls everywhere, couldnt get it out of neutral. Pumped the clutch a few times, got it in and it happend a few times. This morning I cant get a gear at all unless the car is turned off. Howeger I got the car moved by puttin it in 1st, cranking it so it moved until it started, dirving it along, then couldnt disengage the clutch, so had to force it to stall.

Gf's Dad reckons its most ,ikely the slave/release cylinder. Sound right? I think it could be either, but he reckons the slave usually goes....

Need to fix this, might pull it out, open it up and see if the seal has gone inside. Would this be an ok test for the master cylinder too?

He says it isnt the clutch, as it doesnt slip. THanks guys

I wouldn't recommend driving you car until you fix the problem, you don't want to make whatever it is worse.

You didn't say anything about pedal feel. That would help a lot, ex if the slave or master is leaking, it will could soft and spongy, and the engagement point would be closer to the floor than normal.

To start I'd top up the resivoir and bleed the slave cylinder. If that fixes it temporarily then you know there is a leak somewhere, and you can probably rule out the release bearing as a cause.

    sounds like a hydrolic leak!

Must be leaking. Fluid is still full, or nearly full, but there are bubbles in the fluid when you pull the pedal back out, then push it in again. There is no pedal feel, it just stays near the floor! Got to find the leak, then bleed it i guess. Wish me luck! Car isnt even driveable now!

We found the problem, a spring on the release lever had popped out, adn the lever had gne pretty sloppy. All fixed now, had to change the slave cylinder too coz i broke it bleeding the system, but the clutch feels alot tighter now so thats good!
