There is a known issue with the starter relay. Over time it may become intermitent sending power to the starter only sometimes. When it decides not to work your car will not turn over but if you repeateadly try to start the car the relay may eventually work. I have investigated various relay options with the following results. ST16X starter relay 28300-16010 8508 8908 ST185 starter relay 28300-10010 8909 9309 ST205 & other models relay 28300-10020 9403 - 2008 My 92 camry uses the same relay as my All Trac. In 93 toyota replaced my camry/All Trac relay with PN 28300-10020 which I am guessing is a direct fit replacement for PN 28300-16010 in my camry so I'd have to guess it would also fit any 4th gen as well. PN 28300-10020 is also used on 6th gen tracs and various other toyota models from 9308 up to the present so I'd bet that this relay is a little more reliable than the original PN 28300-16010 and should probably be a direct swap. 28300-16010 camry 9106-9308 28300-10020 camry 9308- Item Number 2830010020 MSRP $58.42 Price $46.74 Electrical - Starter - Relay Starter - Passenger compartment 1993 - 2008 Starter - Under hood 2002 - 2008 So any junker camry 9308 or newer should be able to cough up one of these babies on the cheap. Camry Starter Relay Location ST16X Starter Relay Location You are looking for item D Clutch Start Relay Okay that would be nice if I had an extra relay but I don't and need to get the car started. -put the car in neutral -turn the key to the normal On/Driving position -watch out for hot parts or parts that will move/spin when you start the engine -run a wire from the green circled terminal to the positive on your battery -the engine should turn over when you apply 12 volts to the wire Okay that would be nice if I had extra wire but I don't and need to get the car started. Hopefully you have a standard and a hill to roll down or some good buddies to push the car. -put trans in 1st gear -turn ignition to On/Drive position -press clutch in -let car start to roll or have buddies push -quickly release the clutch and then press it back down to the floor -hopefully you felt a little jerk when the clutch pedal was released and the car is now running -if the car did not start try going a little faster before you "pop" the clutch. I can normally on a flat surface turn the ignition on put the car in neutral and push it fast enough that I can jump back in and push the clutch down shift into first and then "pop" the clutch so yu really don't have to be rolling very fast.
I don't know how many times I had to bump start my ol 86.... Btw it works much better in 2nd gear to bump start and leave the clutch out until you hear the car almost start
i had to crash start mine with shit bottom end bearings , yeah 2nd or 3rd gear is fine depends on the speed , never tryed it in 1st
thats a pricey little bitch. I just put a standard aftermarket bosch relay in line with my starter relay wire......but I guess if you want to do it "right"................
