My ST165 Build on alltrac.net

  1. I Wasn't talking about how old the Pressure plate is, it's been new in the box for years.
The Month and Day it was made might have been a bit lazy and munchy for the factory workers.

    I meant it as kidding.

jez you are well into it, Thats some serious spanner time.

nice find with the turbo, I have one of those sitting in my part shelving, once its sorted, should be a good un.

keep all the blog updated, really interesting to read.

Compared to UK cars, when its mostly rust issues, this is really interesting reading for me :D

    Cheers

I got in some of my parts order for the alltrac.

I ordered the stuff to fix my oil leak. Oil Pump gasket, Oil Pump O-ring, Cam seals, front main seal, Timing belt, oil pump shaft seal.

other items I ordered were all the decals for the rear spoiler. Unfortunately the Alltrac Turbo decal is discontinued. The Toyota and Celica decals are still good. Only the Toyota got delivered today.

I also ordered my Sway Bar bushings which backordered.

Then I got some springs and pins for the RR Parking brake.

The throttle body gasket is for the MR2.

So I'm still waiting on the Oil pump shaft seal, Celica Decal, and Sway Bar bushings.

  7. Theres been a little hidden story behind this alltrac.

I have not wanted to post about.

I didn't have a legal title for it until today.

I bought the car from a guy in N. Phoenix. He had a Idaho state title. But the title was in a Antonio Rivas name. Antonio Rivas sold the Alltrac for $500 to a Jose Qujas in Avondale, AZ. Jose Quijas had written his name on the title as the buyer. Jose Quijas then sold it to JOHN DOE. JOHN DOE sold it to the guy I bought it from. So I'm the 5th owner just since 2004. I called the Arizona MVD and told them about the title. They told me I had to get a Power of Attorney from Jose Quijas to put the title in his name and then put it into my name. I was ohh great. So I spent 3 weeks calling every Jose Quijas in all the phone books from Texas to WA state. I thought for sure I was screwed and had bought a parts car. I don't speak spanish and 90% of the people who answered didn't speak English.

One day I googled Jose Quijas. It came up with a bunch of garbage and then 1 hit was a Myspace page. I clicked it and found a bunch of videos of supras, alltracs, and MR2's on his myspace page, but his location was Hayward, CA. I was getting excited. Then I scrolled down and found that under his schools he listed UTI in Avondale, AZ. I knew I had found him then. So I sent a message and a couple weeks went by with no activity on his page, then I noticed he had logged in but not replied to my myspace message. SO I sent about 5 more messages. He got back to me and said he remembers selling the Alltrac and that it had never ran and was supposed to be his UTI project car. He gave me his #. I called and talked a bit and he agreed to get a power of attorney and get it notarized and would send it to me. I sent him a E-mail with the PDF that the AZ MVD had made. Then I didn't hear from him for another week or so. I called, and e-mailed. He finally got back to me on a text message, said he was real busy with work but he got it notarized and said he would overnight it on his first day off. I received the power of attorney Last Thursday. Went to the MVD today brought the power of attorney, title, and the car. They inspected it, and issued me a TITLE!!!!!!

It is free of any brands and has no salvage history!.

    Clean title for me.

Now I am gonna send Jose Quijas $50 for his honesty and troubles.

  9. Today I stopped by Phoenix Graphix in Chandler, AZ
They make all the factory decals for the 2003+ Dodge Truck Rumble Bee. They also do all the restoration decals for all the old muscle cars, in particular the GEN 2 Firebirds. You know the ones with the huge 30 ft bird on the hood. They made all the decals on the 69 Chargers used in the Dukes Of Hazzard movie. All the muscle car restoration companies have them make decals. They are going to get the same clear vinyl as the factory Toyota decals and screen print the striped colors on the clear and diecut the clear and then they have a clear vinyl protectant they spray over the decals. Their decals are so good that GM and Chrysler officially licensed them to sell the decals for them.

The new decals will come out looking exactly like the originals, literally no way to tell the difference. I might make them available for sale through my website when they are all done. I am doing a run in several factory colors. I'm having them make me 2 different model decals. 1 will be alltrac turbo and the other GT-FOUR. Once those are done I'm having them make me the Japanese GT-FOUR Twin Cam 16 Intercooled Turbo Door Decals. Again all of which I will probably stock.

I've allready delivered new factory toyota decals to them to reproduce the Toyota and Celica parts but the alltrac turbo and gt-four decals are discontinued.

I do have a paper and pencil Stencil of the GT-Four Decal that they can use to make a new one, but I don't have a good useable image for the alltrac turbo.

    Check them out http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/

  10. I went down to phoenix graphix and inquired about getting them to make reproduction rear spoiler decals, see this thread http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=34492

After getting back I went to NAPA and picked up my new alternator. Yep, they did in fact warranty it.

i demand vids once the trac is running. :)
nice job with the restoration. lovin it.

  13. Alltrac runs, just mysteriously leaked oil one day and now it doesn't leak? So It's going to get all new oil pump seals, new water pump, timing belts, cam seals, front main seal. possibly reseal the oil pan and new Valve Cover gaskets. I'm also gonna track down my damn boost leaks. The car would be pretty quick if it wasn't for the boost leaks. I have to crappy clamps that need to go.

wow, well at least it seems like you got the funds to do all that stuff. its all a dream for me to that stuff at my current state. college student, working at mcdonalds, and broke! lol good luck!

  15. Trust me I've been there. I was doing the low budget builds for years due to finances. I own and operate Southwest Speedworks. I am pretty much the owner, operator, and only employee. I'm just starting it up. Got a shop in Mesa, AZ. I charge $65 an hr. I take about $20 an hr out of the $65 and deposit that into the restoration account. I'm also 26, married with 2 kids.

I've driven the alltrac around locally the last couple days and that oil leak is completely gone. ODD. I think tonight I'm going to do the sway bar bushings.
