1987 GT Vert last spring my dad bought a 1987 convertible for me and my brother for just 800 USD It needed some work, when we bought it it was the first time the car moved in ten years, it had no fuel pump, the back window was torn and the splitter was broken along with some pretty faded super red and nuts in the trunk, after a little mechanical work and and an interior clean out, it looked pretty darn good but it still needs some parts, like the splitter and a couple interior trinkets but other than that a great first car for cheap, I love to drive it unfortunately I cant right now though because we're fixing a broken timing belt that happened shortly after that picture, and some leaks and other things so i can't drive it until spring, I wouldn't dare using this in the snow anyway FWD No airbags Currently No power steering No ABS Convertible plus all that salt on the road, I would hate to rust it out First post here!
here are some more pictures of where it sits right now, i'll try to get some of the interior tommorow while I work on it tommorow One of the problems if I didn't mention it is all of the black parts need to be repainted and I already mentioned but the lip is broken, and i've heard they are hard to find true?
Welcome, She looks fairly tidy mate. Good time to work on them over the winter if you have a garage. I to have a vert and don't use her over the winter or snow. She's all tucked up in hibernation for the winter lol
Interior pics: also some of the crappy gray parts that we need to paint one more thing, does anyone have a spare cover for that passenger side door lock switch in the picture
My Garage is bigger than my house because the property used to be a farm or something so it could probably fit 5 cars if there weren't so many car parts in it, my dad sells a lot of parts of Old American muscle cars and he has enough Datsun 240Z parts to build 3, but not a single piece for 4th gens
the engine is out, ill post a pic soon, my dad had open heart surgery last week, so progress is delayed
he is recovering well, he walked a mile today on the engine note were just fixing the engine that was in it, a few leaks and that shredded timing belt I posted about in the op the car has no aftermarket anything and im probably going to keep it that way, they're worth more stock arent they?
Positive news about your father, good. It all depends on the market regarding if your Celica is worth more in stock condition. Generally yes is the answer, as most classic car lovers like originality, but tastefully modified cars can also be valueable.
these cars are great snow drivers! went up a mountain in a snowstorm with 50% summer tires. no problem heading back down as well! i wouldn't recommend it...but they are quite capable
the dirtiest pic of it i have i wish it was summer again, i remember when this was taken, it was 75 degrees and i had just got home from a cruise by the beach, it was sunny
After almost 3 months of stalling, surgeries, and cold weather putting off work on my celica, were finally digging out of the snowbank and getting massive progress. But we've come upon a problem, the trans has been leaking since we first drove it, and we finally took it off today to find this. I have no idea where it is leaking from, my dad is stumped as well. Could anyone offer advice? Engine pics And for those inquiring about my garage, here it is also a pic of my Dad's project Datsun The only other thing left to take apart is the steering rack, which needs rebuilding to get the power steering back on. after that it's only a question of money to get this thing done in april or may
The transmission leak is probably just the seal there in the front of the pump, the one where the tourque converter slides into the transmission. probably leaking there and then getting flung about while it spins causing the dark spot. its not a hard seal to replace, just make sure you get the new one in straight.
IT'S DONE!!! :hurray finally, it is working again, i'm going to wash it real good when i get home from school tommorow and post sexy pics
