Ok quick run down: 3SFE motors have coil in cap, on an SX (prob GTS too) the coil is on the strut brace, ignitor is bolted to a little bracket behind the inlet plenum. Since you have no spark, first thing to check is get a multimeter and with the key in the ON positon, check if you have 12v between the black wire with the yellow trace on the coil and earth, either battery negative or the bare body metal will do. If you have 12v here, you have power to your coil and need to check out your dizzy wiring, your ignitor wiring and your ecu wiring. If you don't have 12v, start checking fuses. I can check my BGB and tell you specifically where to check, but at this point I'm too tired to read wiring diagrams
ok ill probably get one before monday. um, can u please describe where the igniter is with more detail? i might have missed a clip on the wiring loom.
From memory, its bolted to a little bracket on the firewall just behind the throttle body but a little bit towards the drivers side of the throttle body, if that makes sense. Can't remember, but its a 4-5 wire plug I think.
bump somebody help me and yeah, i had a look today and saw the ignitor, it IS connected...its a silver/grey little box thing right
why do i have 108 views and only a few people helping me!? well for anybody else who wants to read this, the igniters plugged in the coils plugged in the distributer underneath clip is in. all the spark plug leads are in basically everything is connected, but since this is my first time working on a car with fuel injection... does anybody know if theres something ive missed?
hmm.. Well I'm tryin buddy I don't know ton's about car's tho....hah... Take a picture of the whole shiznit and let's see what's plugged into what ....
heres the pics first an overall motor shot water log wiring green clip attached to distributer what i think is the coil igniter or something? and last but not least, a white clip i found hanging around...dont know where it goes. PLEASE PLEASE HELP I WANT TO DRIVE HER
open the dizzy and check to see if the rotor is attached on it or in it at all? Do you here the fuel pump click on when you turn the key? what did you do recently to your engine that made this not to start?
amd that white clip should goto a plug on the tranny iirc. wont prevent starting thou. what does is sound like when starting? theres compression right? are the cams spinning when cranking?
um yes the cams spin, and i did a cylinder head transplant... i dont hear a fuel pump click, but i had 2 replace the fuel rail aswell, and fuel was definately coming out.. dont no about compression, but the timing is done with the no1 piston at TDC and the cam gear marks both pointing straight up right? and the only thing ive noticed is no spark at all.. um yes there is a rotor and it does spin, um anything else? im pretty sure the engine would fire if it had spark so in other words after looking at all the pics you think it should start?
um i just noticed that my fan belts were not on so i put them on, but it still wont start ARGH I DONT GET IT!!!
The wiring looks like its all plugged in where it needs to be, all except that white clip which connects to the reverse switch on the gearbox to activate your reverse lights. You NEED a multimeter now, or failing that a test light before I can help you any more. Don't keep whinging because I've told you what you need to do, go and get a multimeter!
