Knock sensor questions

I have read a lot of pages lately about knock sensors(mainly from the Mr2oc board). Frankly there isn't a conclusion anywhere. Hopefully those searching can find closure here. I have a couple questions, before i ask i know the knock sensor is needed for 'engine safety' but if someone has an Air fuel meter and wants to find cheaper routes(not OEM) then this is for them.

    1. First off i want to find out if there is a way to not have a knock sensor at all? Not going stand alone. Somewhere i read said to just send the wire to the block.(doubt that works)

    2. After reading I have seen GM knock sensors used from these vehicles(Sunfire, Cavalier, Camaro) Can we get some valid part numbers possibly or experiences?

    3. Lastly if i purchase an OEM knock sensor(autozone style or used) is there a way to just tape or secure the sensor to the block(so it recieves vibration) and not thread it in? This is mainly just to keep the ECU happy.

Any help would be appreciative guys thanks.

Edit: if this isn't in the right section then please move it for me. Thanks!

you are correct. Since i am using a 3sgte ecu it requires the signal from a knock sensor. Before i buy a used one from a member in the near future i wanted to see if i could clear some things up.
