If you guys haven't already I suggest buying this:

Not only has a great long lasting shine, I also use it for the plastic parts for the exterior of the car. The front valance especially.

Put a nice coat of this stuff on the valance, let it sit for awhile. After a bit, if you accidentally get dust, dirt, or water on it and you can just wipe them right off and you'll still get that nice shine. Looks to be very waterproof It's as if you sprayed or put on a new coat of gel shine. Works great! Put it on the corner lights trim and tailights trim, those parts get dehydrated too. And I also put some on the side moldings. Anywhere you've got plastic. $6.99. Bought this product back in December and still using the same bottle.

Nice one James  I've never actually used stuff in "gel" form, but thinking of getting some for the tires. You tried it on the tires yet ? Apparently it's a slow messing job.........might be better off with the spray stuff for tires.

I use a version by Autoglym and yes it is fabulous long lasting stuff that retains it's shine and protects the plastic. Love it !

Yup, same here. I've always used the spray-on type for years and one day decided to give this gel stuff a try. Turns out they last way longer than spray. Kinda messy, but spray was messier haha. Yup tried it on the tires.

Here's what happened when I applied them to the rubber trim
And I didn't paint over the trim. That's all armor all gel. Very glossy.

Notice how clean and shiny the front valance is? That's after washing the car and wiping the dust off with a towel. Still retains that glossy look. I'll post a better picture of the valance later. The internet is slow right now and I've got school. :cheers

Yep, that works well also. The regular armorall is what I've used in the past since I use it extensively for the interior & top boot. My LeBra covers the air dam now though, so I polish that instead :mrgreen

James, the paintwork looks immaculate from that view, almost a mirrored finish bar that little dent. Also the door sill trim is in supberb condition with absolutely no bubbling in it ! That is a well looked after Celica, a credit to you James for maintaining it to a high quality finish ! Hope your head still fits through the door now :hehe

When you're busy detailing hours on end, do you think what your neighbours are thinking or say about you :hehe

They tell me " You're cleaning your car AGAIN?" and a "James, I wish I cleaned my car as much as you" ahaha
I get these reactions numerous times and I just tell them "I enjoy this kinda stuff"
Yes I'm young and love driving fast, but I also love to slow down literally and cruise and enjoy the engine with no radio on, and polish and keep the car clean. This car is like my baby.

Haha, I clean, polish, dust off this car more than the 3 others in my driveway haha

That product looks like it does the job nicely !!!! . I've used gel products before, they do a great job. With 2 cars having to look tip top all the time now, I got to find little shortcuts here and there. I did find something that I have had some luck with lately (When I get the chance that is :aargh ) Meguiar's Hot Shine Spray.

I use the aerosol over the pump and the foam because of the speed, and the amount you use. It seems to go further than the other types made from Meguiar's. Like the Armor All Gel, it lasts !!!! As long as you stay on top of it, you can bring back the shine with just a lite rub with a cloth. I use the same cloth saved from the application smoothing to do the touch ups. I use it on the air dam, side skirts, mudflaps, and side moldings. I apply to the cloth for the moldings. All in all, both great products !!!!

Thanks Steve, but the real credit goes to my parents for keeping it so maintained through all these years :cheers And me kinda for polishing the car. I can't say I'm babying the car haha. Let's just say I'm rough with the car but loving at the same time. But I hope my efforts of babying the car show in these pictures.

    @ Rick
Yes very good stuff. The long lasting shine really makes a difference to the trims and plastics. Makes them less subsceptible to drying and cracking in the sun. Plus! These products make them water/dirt proof!
