i'm also on that forum, but as yet apart from mandalay, i haven't come across anyone that has finished their turbo build and cranked up the boost to punch out numbers closer to what the "hardcore" 3sgte's are.

I see :) What HP range are we talking about?
Mandalay's supercharged engine is about 300kw iirc.

only 250rwkw atm, tho once he's got his bigger SC and turbo gearbox etc, then no doubt he'll be over the majic 300rwkw.

a gt35r will gladly provide me well in excess of 300awkw, depending on how much boost i want to run and at what rpm i go to.

I have H22's for my new motor, did you have the rods custom made or are they available on the shelf - price?
    What pistons are those?

The rods are custom pauters, but they charge the same as their off the shelf rods anyway.

Those pistons are modified cp 5sgte pistons, as I when I first started accumliating parts for my build I wasn't going to use the beams head etc. they are no good for use with the beams head, not enough dish and wrong valve angle.

Why two turbos? Sequential? Or just the smaller one to get her going then whack on the big one later? I am doing a similar build. Search [h=3]St165 with some upgrades[/h]

    Those parts... :fapfap

I can't wait to start accumulating parts for my build, I love new parts! :D

How much did the Haltech set you back? Thinking about adding one to my shopping list.

yes sequential. with the vvt-i head should make a nice all rounder. decent to punt round daily, and lots of punch and wide power band to scare some stuff on the track.

$1700, for you i'd suggest the haltech sprint, it will be enough for mildy modded 3sgte.

Pretty decent price, I'm not quite sure how far mildly modded goes though. The only original part ( apart from block and head obviously ) I'm keeping is the crankshaft and 1st gen GE intake mani, I guess that is pretty mild considering your plans lol

I'll look them up and see what kind of fun stuff they have in them.

you should only need a sprint 500 (they're about 1k) only reason to go higher generally is for more outputs etc, i need to run 2 boost solenoids and vvti etc.

think of it this way, if there's someone out there with a similar or better setup than what your aiming for and they're just running a powerFC (like Cuts in his st205) then a sprint 500 will be enough for your motor.

I looked up the 500 and 1000 and I've no doubt it's enough for the engine, but I'll be missing out on some neat functions :p
Mostly launch control, but I have arms and legs for that lol

Just read the spec sheet, "For racing use only" lol

Thanks for the suggestion, adding the 500 to my shopping list :D

all aftermarket ecu will say "for race use only" at least in AUS.

i'm not sure how much luanch control would help/benefit a fwd turbo unless you have an LSD diff and drag tyres attached and a 1/4mile track in front of you.

for street i wouldn't recommend it.

What do you know of the laws regarding aftermarket ECUs in Australia?
Are you planning on getting it complied or just hiding it? It seems like a whole lot of jumping through hoops to get it done completely by the book.
I'll most likely just gut a buggered OEM GTE ECU and hide the AM one inside the case.

yes that is what i have done. i fitted my haltech PS1000 in an old 5sfe ecu case.

but in reality, the ecu is located behind the centre console etc and isn't really something that your going to get defected for.

    really wouldn't worry about it.

no, it's not something any old copper is going to be looking for. Especially behind the center console AND middle of the dash.

I've seen Vi-Pec has drop in ECU boards for the 2nd gen GTE that fit in the ECU case perfectly, but where's the fun in that? :science2

yes, vipec do drop in plug and play, but then you'd need the gen2 loom and plugs. also they are $1600 for the std board +$ for the extra boards for extra functions.

easy enough esp with your elec skills etc to just fit the sprint 500 inside a 3sg ecu case if your worried, it also means you can use the factory brackets to mount the sucker.
