  1. Just picked up this gem about a month ago. 1987 gts 5 speed 160, 000 miles for about $500. Right away I threw new struts and mounts all the way around and threw some wheels I scored off an 01 gt for $50 and brand new hankook tires for another $300. Can't forget the bitchin cold air intake :) After I go through and do the motor mounts and sway bar bushings i will be doing the timing belt and waterpump for some cheap insurance. Any tips or tricks for anything would be great!

welcome! good deal for a gts! my advice is to put back to stock airbox and put in the proper k&n panel filter for the stock box. the reason is that the stock box is already routed to take air directly behind the headlight. it's already the coldest air you can get. by having a cai, you'll be taking air from the engine bay.

any pics? if you have a hatchback, check your spare tire area right now and make sure you don't have a pool of water. also check your rear speakers and see if there is also water in them.

ask us any questions, this board's got lots of info

  3. well i don't have to worry about the water in the spare tire well because there is already a nice hole in the bottom lol that is really the only rust on the car. I put the cold air intake on because it was cheap and easy to find right away because the stock intake tube was torn pretty good. For some reason it wont let me embed my picture...try this link here http://db.tt/1tZZC4GJ

2nd on the pod filter, those things are a waste of time and money, unless you fit it inside the airbox.
Your stock airbox is far superior and is a genuine CAI

Not sure how I missed this thread, but Hi! and welcome to the forum :D

Hmm... forum doesn't seem to like attaching pics from Dropbox.. if you have a Photobucket or Flickr account it's easier.

The colour coded wheels look great, bet they're a bitch to keep clean though :p Any other mods planned?

    Cheers
    Matt
