They there guys.. nice to see the new site. Anyway, I have a quick question about the "junkyard". I've owned 2 4gen gt-s and I loved both of them. I was just browsing the internet and I came across one in near my place that for sale real cheap. The engine is seized and it's been sitting for one year. Anyway, I was looking for an engine at a junkyard the other day and came a cross a 88 gt-s. The wiring is all cut and I am just wondering how I could get the car to crank over. I was planning on bringing a battery and just putting jumper cables on it and touching the starter.. but what wires should I touch. I want to do a compression test on it and I figured that doing that is my best bet to do the test. The starter is located under the headers if i'm correct, so are the wires for the starter accessible or do I have to take the exhaust manifold off?

Anyway, really happy to see that this site is still going strong. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys.

    Take it easy.. :D

just got to find the big positive wire that goes to the starter and put that on positive and then ground the negative terminal to the chassis. That would do the trick..No need to remove the manifold.

    thanks

awesome.. thanks for the quick response. I was looking at the engine swap you did on photo bucket. You removed some stuff from the engine bay before removing the engine. I know you should remove the rad, battery and stuff.. I think you removed the speed control censor on the left side of the engine. Do you have to remove that for the swap..

Are there any "how to" remove engine threads or something..

    Anyway.. thanks for the help..

I never had it to begin with. and that the cruise control your referring to.. I think it would be easier for removal because your have throttle cabling going to it. As for engine swaps..Its not to hard but not to easy.. Also there differnt methods if you want to take it out from the bottom or top.

My plan is to remove the engine from the top and put the new but old engine in the same way. Whats the most dificult part of the swap. I'ved donne tow swaps up to date and I could easily get my older brother to help me out; hes donne half a dozzen of them.

    Anyway, thanks for the help..

uhhh true but you'll also need to jump the terminal on the starter as well. The starter has the main positive wire going to it as well as a relay wire, you'll need to short the smaller relay terminal against the big positive terminal in order to turn the car over

when I did my swap I foresaw the intake manifold being a problem. So I unbolted it from the head and tied it off to the side in the engine bay...that way I didn't have to disconnect anything running through there. I just pulled the engine out around it and then reattached it to the new engine.

Ummm its also easier to pull the motor and tranny as one piece (provided you have a hoist with a leveller)

Oh and take lotsa pics. If you ever can't remember where a plug or a tube goes you can refer back to them.....it saved my ass a few times.

Other then that just take your time and keep all the parts you take off organized (keep the bolts with them or put the bolts back in the holes they came from) If you run into troubles take some pictures and post it up....I'm sure a few of us here have done the same swap and could easily remember a couple things

awesome.. sounds like it's not too hard to do.. cranking the engin over and doing a swap. It's probably pretty straight forward for the sawp. I mean, I have no doubt that i counld't do it. Might take a long then when I did it in my buddy's civic, but it should be pretty easy.

Anyway, thanks for the help guys... really apreciated.
