Did the 4gen convertible exist on JDM ?

I know that european verts were made in Germany and US ones were made by ASC corp. but something about a japanese model?

Sorry, I'm editing this since I was assuming JDMs were 3sge like EDMs, but a recent find says otherwise.
There's a lot of conflicting info out there of what was sold where and with what options. We typically associate 5-lug with the 3sge, but that may or may not not be true with JDMs. I read a document recently stating JDM verts had the 3sfe engine as standard and I assume the 3sge as an option (see link below). I do know European verts didn't get the 3sfe option at all. As for Australia there were verts, but I have limited knowledge of what they were and with what options. EPC doesn't specifically cover verts as it does with liftbacks and coupes so i can't get much info from that source.

OK. But if I'm right, US 4gen convertibles have been made by ASC Corp. in USA.
    So, who made Japan ones?

Was either made in Japan or New Zealand
I don't think Australia ever got 4th gen convertable (never seen one?)
Do you have any catalogs for the JDM or OZ convertable

I sent you the one of the GT4 convertable, was an OZ catalog but I think
pic was a prototype in Japan

For the catalogs, no, I have any showing the convertible except an US and a swiss one.

I got an answer for this strange turbo convertible. It was a japanese prototype to promote the future all-track turbo.
Never seen the day and this red one remains the only one produced.

After investigations, it appears that the euro (german made) convertible is based upon the liftback and not the coupe :
Liftback front seats and folding split rear seat back, 5 lugs/10 spokes 15' wheels, 3SGE engine, 4 disks brakes, etc...
A strange choice for a not easy conversion... :roll

It's undocumented (in english) that the conversions in Japan were outsourced like it was in the US and Europe. I would have to assume Toyota did the conversions themselves or we would see documentation denoting another company. Here's a partial of the Japanese Toyota Celica Parts Catalogue E-ST160,162,163,165. 1990-05. NO.52219-90. I can't read it obviously, but it may have notations of who did the conversions.. Can anyone read japanese?
