http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj52 ... CF0341.jpg http://s269.photobucket.com/albums/jj52 ... CF0340.jpg These two pics show the roof of my celica. The bonnet is similar. Washed the car yesterday, when wet, the roof takes on the apearance of glass. When dry, it looks rough like this, and has a few patchy sections. Not sure what caused those, but i know it hasm dodgy paintwork done on a few parts, and I reckon it would be to do with the spray mixture/gun settings /whatever. I think, from what I've seen, I shoyuld be able to wetsand this and polish it, and it should come up quite well. However I dont know if there is clear on it or not, and how to go about it either way. If i can tidy up the roof and the bonnet like that, I will just redo the rear quarters and left door with spraycans, sand the car will look mint as. My other problem is teh pinstripes. I have gotten most of, but on the front quarters, its really hard and brittle and barely moves at all. Tips? Also underneath, is a white line which looks like a pinstripe, but it seems to be under the clear. Anybody seen this before? If I have to il cover it with a pinstripe, but id really rather have it gone. Cheers guys
Just take an x-acto knife and scrape a little spot that's hard to see...if the shavings are clear...you have clear coat....if not..then wet-sanding will make it worse.
I know without clear, it can be wetsanded and polished. If there is no clear, it rather just wetsand it flat, then spray clear over the top and polish that, but if there is clear, what then? Doesnt look like there is though, barely any shine... Rye, are yous saying if there is clear, I can wetsand and polish it? IM pretty sure you said something to that affect before anyway.......
Yeah if you have clearcoat on there and wetsand and polish it will turn out very nicely.... Look up a how-to on google for wet-sanding techniques.
