the only way you could do this is if both amps were exact same and in sequence right off the assmbly line. As there are to many variables in electronics to succesfully get the same amount of amps/watts/voltage out of 2 amps even if they are "the same model number" think about it you have one speaker being powered by an amp that is putting out a true say 50w on one voice coil and the other is putting out 52w on the other voice coil. that means that when the amps are pushing the voice coil out one side of the voice coil is trying to go 2w harder than the other side. spells disaster to me? not trying to p.o you mafix, just a concern edit: didnt see you say the signal has to be exactly the same, none the less so does the wattage going to the v/c
the wattage has to be close and the signal has to be exactly the same. This setup is more for competition setups which is why DVC subs are configured in different resistances.
89, i would strongly suggest ditching the optimus brand amp as soon as possible, you could go with a lower wattage amp from a name brand i.e. rockford/kenwood/alpine/pioneer and get the same that optimus is pushing to the speaker. Im not to partial to optimus, i had one that was constantly killing my speakers....then finally wouldnt output anything but a "wave" that made the speaker go to full extension and retraction....not a pretty sight unless your trying to destroy the speaker.
in a comp setup most people will buy 2 amps directly in sequence of eachother to do something like that....i could see the benefits of it as the amp is in truth pushing only half of the speaker there for not taking as much to do the same job.
i know for a fact that the optimus i had was not made by ppi, ive had a few ppi amps, and the inside of this optimus was not like that at all.
weird. you must have had one of the california profile amp based optimus. mine was made by PPI. still pounding today. I do miss my USacoustics amp though. custom made for me....theiving assholes.
i had my best amp stolen from my convertible celica. it was a ppi 2300am art series the one that was 24" long white with graphics on it. further research of it showed it was 2 600w mono block amps in one case(definately not a bridgeable amp ) http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/PPI_2300AM/ the pictures of the inside of the amp is wrong, if you notice the case is the black one which is a later model ppi. the 2300am amp was actually 2 seperate boards. http://ampguts.realmofexcursion.com/PPI ... tside1.jpg that thing LOVED 2 ohms!!!! i was pushing two pioneer 10's dvc each side was running at 2ohms and that amp loved it, man i miss that amp.
I thought Pioneer made the older Optimus Mosfets, no? After adding the Alpine, I'm content w/ 8 ohms for the time being, such a Cleeean signal! I do need a new amp though I'll probably go RF. It really pounds even @8 and pushing 170. -K
it started like as a USacoustics 1000f i believe. i know the amp was made for USA by PPI. and it looked just like the pics you have. then i had it tweeked.
