So i wanted to do some minor clean up/mods since i have the entire fuel and intake system off the block.

1st i am port matching / polishing the inatke - head area..NOT the head, just the ports of entry to the mani.Anyways..i start cleanign and get ready to P & P and # 2 and #7 runner i see these lil "dips/indentures" in the manifold. Are these here for a reason or just casting flash? At first glance i though 4 of the 8 ports had them and had somthing to do with the TVIS system but there were only 2 of them.

    [ya i know burry pic]

2ndly..I want to do the throttle body bypass mod..but the TB set up is a lil dif from the other ones i have done..instint tells me that i just connect the two 1/2 diameter hose together or take the one off and connect that hose to the other outlet...Or does that big hose with the thermal tape have somthing to do with the heating of the TB too?

last but not least..True or false..TVIS is suppose to stay open like this when there is no vaccum..Cause i thought it stayed closed in its natural position

    1) TY

    2) Im sure youve heard of the easy costless Tb bypass..its ment to heat up the TB when its really cold.I'll never drive my celi in the winter so i dont need it.keeps the intake air colder.

    3) Ok..So should it be open if it is off the head or not??

#2 oh that. nope you need that for the idle control valve which cannot be bypassed.
#3 doesn't matter. just make sure everything moves OK.

the butterflys stay open briefly when the car is started (to help) and then the car closes them. Just for a split second. and then they stay closed, until the vacuum actuator starts to open them.

they always should open when the car is off, unless your applying vacuum to them.
