i'm supposed to redline at 80MPH right? well i redline at 85..................................... something is definitely wrong.
I don't think it's gauges, you're going faster @ lower rpm. Stabilizing the front of the car by replacing the strut bar you were missing is helping you go faster I hope -K
Your getting your RPM's and MPH mixed up. 8k RPMs might be redline, but you could always go faster than 80mph. The speed limiter kicks in before rev limiter does. 127mph I think is speed limiter?
yea my bad for the confusion. well at 6k RMP i thought i was only supposed to hit 80MPH. i just tested the car today and i got up to 90 MPH. iono. i think its acting up. when i start rolling the RPM's go up before the MPH and then the MPH gauge kicks up to like 10MPH. that's just while im taking off casually like at a stop light. i seriously need to make a video to help you dudes understand my situation.
i think i know what you are talking about, like the spedo is pretty much unresponsive until it gets above like 10 or 15 mph. then it jumps up to whatever you are going at the moment
yup, just like that. oh! and i also used the gps to see how fast i was supposed to be rolling. at like 80MPH im going close to 90MPH. that was weird too. anything i can do to fix this? brand new used cluster?
I had this issue, In my case, It was cured, by replacing the speedo cable. The cable has an internal section, that in my case had worn and was getting stuck and giving weird readings, I once went from 20mph to 100 in less than a second lol!! try swaping it with one from a junker car or if you can get one a brand new one.
hmm.. is it that little green thing on the back of the odometer? not to sure what that is. but, thanks for the advise.
basically you have a drive on the gearbox, which provides motion for the speedo cable which runs from the gearbox to your cluster. the end you see at the back of the cluster recives the turning motion from the cable, translating that to a signal for the speedo. my cable became irratic, hence the odd signals, i knew it was either the cable or the drive on the gearbox, as I swapped to a spare cluster and I still had the same prob.
I seriously recommend eveyone uscrew the speedo cable fom the box and check it All the boxes I've looked at lately had badly rusted cables, I taped mine so it was facing upwards and then filled it with oil every few hours, then I put grease in the gearbox drive hole and screwed it back on. I've also had numerous people here wanting the lower part of the speedo cable so it's not an isolated thing. The cable does not get oiled from the box like on other cars Yes, the green thing is your speedo cable plug
ok, thanks a lot stig. but here in california we dont get rust at all on our cars. so i dont see why i would need to replace it. but, i will definitely check it out though. especially advise from you st162 experts. thanks
well, here is a video like i said i would post. sorry for the bad angle, thats how bad my alignment is. :T take a look and see if that is correct to you guys. oh yea and sorry for the bad air leaks into my ride. been looking to fix that. need replacements.
well i just have the stock 13" donuts/steelies on. hmm....well when i have the gps in the car it reads that i go 80 when im going 90..........lol wow didnt know it would be this confusing.
