Just wondering how much paint is needed to spray a car the size of a 162...

I just want to use my colour, mixed into rattle cans, to spray my rear quarters and left door, and the bumpers. Considering cleaning up, filling and doing the front lip, side panels and down the bottom at the back, as well as the mirrors.

The cans are 340g, so roughly 340mls.Wondering how many cans I would need to do a rear quarter, a door, etc.

for 2 coats, about 1 /L paint diluted with mineral spirits might do it. theres a formula for calculating it roughtly, I think i saw it on trucks. Sorry, I dont have a great idea, I bought a Gallon of it for 25 bucks and went from there :p

    Electric spraygun!? WTF! Pics?

    what paint you use?

So maybe 2/2.5L not thinned for the whole car?

You used the spraycans before, I would love to do my bumpers, and the whole sides of the car. Think the cans would be ok? Id be using a trigger attaachment on the cans...

Im thinking at that rate, maybe 6 cans would do the sides, being one 340g can to a quarter, one to a door, etc. Reckon im way off?

What happend? U were finished I thought..

Whats the overspray like spraying? I guess I could tape up the car, take off the bumpers, mudflaps, spoiler and side skirt sorta panels, and just spray the whole car and spray them off the car. COuld get it done within a day or two I think.

The brightside paint is single stage, so no primer or clear, and it works great apparently. You heard of it?

Reckon you could send me one of those guns? They have them on ebay, in the uk, but want like 30 bux, which is ok, then lyk 50 or so to send it...

its possible, they are like 16 dollars canadian at a special store here, the only problem is crossing half way scross the world, im sure shipping and the possibility of it being damaged and customs would make it cheaper to find one there, maybe a used one? I need to redo it becase the paint needs anotehr coat, its to thin. but yhes, you can do it in a day, the prep work takes a long time, and masking the car off along with your workign area.

Lol. Why? Consider this the ghetto paint thread haha....

Meph, Why did you thin the paint? To make it go further, or to cut down the orange peel or what? Im just gona be spraying mine straight, then wetsanding and polishing after. Helps that I dont have to worry bout clear coat either. You use clear?

I thought those spray things were for doing fencing and shit lol...

Been doing alot of looking around, found out two things.

1.) St162's look awesome in white, wayyyyyyyy better than any blue I had considered.

2.) The electric sprayers used with brightside paint work very well, the paint lays on smooth as, and flat. Of course me wanting to spray white most likely (been deciding on blue or white) makes it much easier, as of course it hides the flaws in my body work, peel is not as noticeable etc.

Meph, get some pics up when you can.

Mafix, we dont all have acess to the facilities we ideally would, nor can i justify spending thousands to paint a car that is only worth 3-4K
