ok, so this sucks. After spending a few hours fixing misc thing on my celie today I decided to replace the valve cover screw with some bolts. It worked great but after swaping three out I managed to tighten one to the point of cracking the cover (F*#&) ya, dumb move by me but what can i say. heres an ilustration of the damage. THe bolt still hold down pressure and the flange is the main part of the crack. should I get it welded? replaced? how bad is this injury?
BAD....bad bad. You need all the mounts or they will never get them to seal. These things are very picky just on the amount of torque. I have a set If you cant find some that are painted and came of my jdm 3sge that we can work out.
drove to work with out leaking any noticible amounts of oil. I think im gonna go the hill billy fix way with metal exoxie and getting it welded later. ill also redo the valve cover gasket, cuz its shot
Im working on it, but besdies leaking oil there isnt a lot of harm that could be done... lol unless it leaks oil you know and the engien seizes. then its gte time! but ya, I agree. I need a new one or a good fix (My friend at work there is about the best welder you can find, and is qualified to weld inside a nuclear power cell (or something)!)
Doesn't Mafix have a super sexy ge cover for sale? Edit: Sorry, it's Chris snyder. Custom painted TVIS TB and matching GE head cover. Looks like it's still for sale in the Parts for sale section. -K
He needs a cover. For the condition and price, it's a no-brainer. He could always mask and repaint it anyway. -K
I just put metal epoxie over it and siliconed a gasket, still leaks a bit, but 1000+ kms and oil level is fine. Just a few drops a day. Im use to things leaking
off the 19.40 L Ive gotten 174km with a decent amount still left in the tank, Ill keep you all posted 8)
thats ok, your still asking me about it. Im sure the atmospheric pressure sensor on a fuel pump combined with the fact I cant even get the nozzel fully into my tank and it occasionaly shuts off on its own would create enough tolerance in the numbers to make it as accurate as tracking a gauge from one position, adding gas and waiting for it to return to it original position. but I just remembered my car only gets 2mpg, so you can all stop giving me shit and calling me an idiot now ok
all of us? I just like to laugh a lot...that's all... And Resetting the trip odometer when you fill your tank, and then recording and then filling your tank and noting how much gas you used to re-fill it, is the MOST accurate way to find out..... that's all... bah bah to all of you!
ok, maybe not all. But its pretty obvious that people want me to be wrong about this millage thing. but its not gonna be off by that much. +-1.5 mpg maybe. The biggest reason I get good millage is that I more or less drive like a snale unless I feel like having fun. I also have an exhaust leak that squeels when im giving it throttle so I can easly controll the amount of combustion when Im accelerating. ya i know, not accurate at all and has no scientific backing. car's gutted and Im running skinnier tires with high PSI. cruse at 80km 90% of my driving. I barley drive in town. no hard feelings?
Well I don't doubt it that much but it's not 100% accurate that's all...I get 20mpg because rarely do I drive with the needle below 4000rpm, unless I'm crusing at 100km/h, then it's at 3500....haah
Speed limit is 60mph (2500rpm) where I am, but I tend to do between 65 and 85mph depending on time of day. Usually though I get about 28mpg.
