Horrible job, now I'm pissed off. Vent.

The tint shop that applied the tints to my car, well let's just say they did not give two $%#*s about my car.

When I arrived at the tint shop last Friday I expected to see my car parked waiting for me to pick her up and see the awesome 'transformation'. It looked pretty nice from afar. First thing I noticed was the window cleaner residue running all over the door and quarter panel on my freshly waxed car that I so proudly did that morning for 2 hours before school. Then I inspected the windows some more and noticed air bubbles which I was fine with since the tints were new and needed drying, although the air bubbles around the black part of the windows were kind of suspicious as well as parts of rear glass. But no biggie right, it must be drying..Then the third I noticed was my rear wiper was moved up almost with the wiper almost parallel with the edge where the rear glass and rear quarter windows meet, which I thought they just moved with the electronically with the steering wheel controls inside, cool. Then we opened the door and noticed bits of tint everywhere, on the floor, the seats. At this point I was still okay, a bit confused and disturbed but was okay. Then back home. I noticed the interior of my door around the door cards have also been stained with window cleaner residue. Now I'm frustrated, but as long as the tint looks good right? This mess can be cleaned up, the tint pieces and bits all over the floor and the stains, right? So I took a microfiber towel and sprayed on it some interior cleaner. I had to spray a lot more than just 4 sprays, since my black interior was now painted white! But as long as those tints are alright and the car looks good, I'm good. Then last night at around 2am I got back from my trip to Nevada. I drove for 4 hours in traffic and 200+ miles, boy is that tiring, though I love long driving. Anyway, 2 days ago I previously left the car out to let the tint dry and cure. I checked to see that most of the air bubbles were gone, good. What air bubbles I didn't like were the ones that had bits of old tint for it. I payed $20 MORE dollars to have these bits removed. I suspect they did not remove any of the old pieces, even though one of their employees clearly said "Yeah it's got to be clear, you can't have those bit there" and he said it multiple times. I removed 98% of the tint a year before and was too lazy to remove the small bits and wanted to leave it to the "professionals". This just reaffirms that those bits of bubbles along the black part of the windows were in fact not just air bubbles. At the time of payment and pickup my father was with me the whole time. Two people are better than one. He was actually the first one who noticed the old tint filled bubbles. The second thing I noticed this morning was that there was morning dew and my rear window was moist and visibility behind was 10%. I was in a hurry to go to school so with the wiper the same place where it was 3 days ago, I turned the wiper on to clear the dew. To my surprised it cleared nothing . Well, it did clear some paint on the spoiler I painted recently. Great. I always wanted to do that. Now I have some nice scratched on the spoiler, and the wiper nearly fell off the car while i was driving, since it was wiping my spoiler and rear quarter windows. Awesome.

I payed them to tint my car. Their job was to tint the car, and not trash the hell out of it. So it's one strike, two strikes and 3 strikes your out. But wait, let's add 2 more strikes. Now I'm pissed.

    -So they half-assed their job.
-Scratched my ST162.net logo with their razor blades and did some more scratching along the sides of the window.
-Left residue on my otherwise clean and waxed car.
-Trashed the interior with bits of tint, everywhere.
-Left residue that was stubborn on my door interior and passenger side interior.
-Payed $20 dollars more for labor that was never done.
    -Payed for crappy tint.
    ....I Basically payed for garbage.

    Unfreakinbelievable.
I'm going back today. Sucks that I didn't take anymore pictures before and after. I'm going to do that now in every project, whether it'd be a house project, car or whatever. Because it has happened way too often.
Sorry guys just had to vent..
The only good thing about the shop was the nice man at the cashier who politely showed us the process of tinting and walked out to see what the 162 needed for the tints. It's the guys that did the tint job who were such retards. The reviews about the place was good too, but you're only as strong as your weakest link.

Things like this just piss me off. Sorry, but it really is a big deal to me. I hope none of you have to go through things like this. Just take pictures before and after, just like Andrew did with his car. I wonder if they drove my car out around as well....

That reminds about my exhaust pipe repair that I had back in December of 2010. I had to go back 3 damn times. Because some nut who did the job measured the pipes wrong and kept banging on the underside of the car.

    :bs

to be honest.....some scratches just dont show on clear glass. yes the could have cleaned up........and yes make them redue the part where they were to remove the old tint.....not acceptable.

Oh, how much I hate these stories :aargh Sorry, not the stories, but ones that the stories are about.
I have lots of similar experiences, and I bet all of us do.
I thought these "professionals" are a bunch of retards only in my country because of our general attitude, but it seems like it's the same everywhere :(

The only good strategy to avoid sucking is to ask after, and a search a lot for decent workers of any kind, from the ones who have already gone past the sucking part, and can suggest trustworthy workers. I feel myself lucky now that I found a decent and kind paint shop, exhaust shop, and mechanic. But all of them live more or less away from me :(

Yeah some people are just horrible. Just be strict with your money, but not greedy if you know what I mean. It's your money, so you ought to know what you"re paying for and that it's worth every cent. Just keep asking questions, ask about their process, read reviews, and take pictures. Sucks to see how many other people are getting ripped off and not even know about it. Stories about horrible experiences right? My parents lost about more than $40,000 dollars remodeling their home because some old hag double her price. Imagine buying a10x10 area rug, at like some cheapo store and then the lady triples the price to $1200. And then imagine instead of yourself picking up some tiles to save money for your flooring, the lady tells you she will give to you for discount, how can you not turn that down. Then she goes ahead and doubles the orginal price. Lol Sucks. Thing is, she was my mother's sisters friend, so we thought we would get good deals.

Anyway, I just got back from the tint shop. One word: Liar.
We told him about the mess
He said, "we probably didn't notice it"
    LOL. :bs

We said that we payed him $20 to remove the old tint.
He said" We tried out best and it's real hard for it to come off"
LOL I removed that 24 year old tint myself and they don't come off it one whole piece don't tell me it's hard, and you have all the right tools. I could've done it myself if I knew how shady you guys were.

We said that there were stains all over the door.
He said" yeah we use baby shampoo and soap. We have trouble with that stuff"
WTF. Just wipe it, how hard is that?

Thing is. He didn't even check the car out. He just stood there, and I could see it on his face that he was lieing.
Too bad the nice cashier wasn't there...

We didn't get anything from it though. no refund.

Do you guys think I should go back. Probably not the best idea, but I that money belongs somewhere else.

    That sucks!

Hell yeah go back! I would go in raising hell, I would tell them they need to re-do the entire job, clean or repaint the door panels and spoiler, or you will call a lawyer!

If that didn't work, I would make sure something "happened" to the business!! That's just me!

"Nice plate glass window you have!"

who did you talk to? ask for the owner....dont get mad at him tho....keep your cool......let him know what your concerns are, NOT YOUR PROBLEMS.......and remember even tho their a fucked up operation.......keeping calm can get you places other than a swift kick to the front door.

Speak to the owner, tell him why you're not happy and show him.

With service like that they will be out of business soon, he needs to know

Unfortunately in the real world it's the lowest paid, most inexperienced people who do most of the work
this one just happened to have no pride and no supervisor
