so after about 6 months or so of working on the trac ive got some cash and shes almost ready to roll. I still need to : Buy an AFM *mafix you still got one?* Hook up various vaccum hoses. Pull all seats out and check for mice just to make sure and i need to fill the tranny with gear oil * anyone have a recomendation on what to use in my tranny?* and i need a 1 nut and bolt for the drive line where she bolts to the rear end. Then when all thats done bolt the hood, bumper and grill in and shes a rolller. Input?
I don't recommend gear oil. I would put ATF in there or Synchromech. The 90W gear oil is to think and slows the synchros down and you get grinding when shifting gears.
As far as I know I only have 1 MAF. Definitely not giving that up yet. The one on the Red car was already gone when I got the car.
gotta pay rent today and i'll work out my funds after that should have bout 75-100$ left. So i should use ATF in my tranny on my trac? Will any do or is there a specific kind i should use?
Silkolene pro 75/90 is what I use for my transmisson, I would not use ATF at all. If that is too dear, I would recomend at least a part synsthetic 75/90. I have used this all the time and its perfect
Synchromesh is what i recommend. the GL5 gear oil has issues with 2nd gear synchros, running synchromesh alleviated this problem.
sent you a PM Mafix. Would the dealer have the driveline bolt i need im only mising one that couples the shaft to the rear end. Anyone have any tips for getting a nasty smell out of the car? Smells like maybe someone smoked in there at one time or they carted around Ass for months in the hot sun.
got alot of her put together today and i did the little test to find out exzactly what is wrong. it threw a code :24- air temp sensor: code 31 air flow sensor: and a code 54 intercooler computer, what does that mean i know what the air ones are it means i need a new AFM but the intercooler one baffles me.
Get your afm first and maybe the other problems will vanish..... I mean.. I don't know how to help ya... If you know there's a problem with your afm and you're trying to figure out what else is wrong how can you if you haven't fixed that yet?
i think the intercooler pump may have been wired to run constantly becuase it turns on when i turn the key to on and just continues to run before i start the car.
yea im not sure about the IC pump im just trying to get all the little bugs out of it so when i get the afm i can bolt it on and go. It wont even hit boost its running so shitty.
Ordered the AFM today (thanks mafix!) and did a little tinkering here and there with it. I knew the car had been wrecked before i bought it lol but today i noticed the steering wheel is bent forward a little bit, must have happened in the wreck. So im gonna try to find me a good looking aftermarket wheel. I think im gonna get a Bride wheel, i kinda have an afinity for bride products, i think its becuase they are kinda an underdog company you never hear much about them. Does anyone have an all trac center console by the way i have a shitty modified GTS console and its just not cutting it lol
if i can find a good one for a good price i am. Plus what kind of BOV's are you guys running on your tracs, i'll be dammned if i buy an ebay bov so im trying to find a good one that isnt ricey. I dont want a high pitched whistle and i dont want a PSSSSHHHHH one either im looking for the middle ground almost a Chunky sound lol if that makes sense. Any ideas? Ive had bad expiernce with impeller damage on other cars so im putting the bov for this reason.
