hmm..This might be a bit of a set back

    So..Im under the celi replacing the broken motor mounts
    [all 4 were either snapped completely in half or atleast torn on one side]
    and i see oil dripping down the side of pan..i get a new gasket and take the pan off and i see this..

    [yes, those are big curly metal shavings]

    Is this terribly bad or does this equel alot of $$$$ ?

    took off oil pan..So that would be the oil pump

    Ok, that makes sense. You thrashed something in your engine and the pump collected them there.

    yea thats what i was guessin..but should the engine be ok? rebuild the bottom end or better off just droppin the 2nd gen in now = stock

    Depends. Where did those metal shavings come from? If you've replaced what they came from, just clean out the pan and what not and re-gasket the pan and move on.

    lol..no this the first time ive pulled the pan..I have no clue on where these came from..prolly a rod or crank bearing, but thats just a guesstimate

    Hey well, if you have another motor w/ less miles and probs, do the swap.

    Well..i have it but i wanted to save up and build it into a 200 hp n/a motor

    so put it in and build up this block if it isn't toasted.

    Check your oil pressure - if it's low, you've got a problem. If it's still OK, you've got some time.

    If you spun or ruined a bearing, you'd see it in the oil pressure. And the loud knocking sound... :D

    i wont be driven it till next fall/winter if i do that..i wanted to drive it in the spring.


    No Knocking at all..a lil ticky, but Very, VERY little
