go to your local performance tyre retailer. they should have a set of 2nd hand treads some where wich will cost you next to nothing if you get R-specs or something (semi slicks). you want to make sure you have your tyre pressures nice and low in the front have you tried actually starting off in second? also what suspension are you running. suspension is usually commonly overlooked in drag especially in a front wheel drive whbich struggles enough anyway. on top of having a good suspension set up take as much weight out of the rear as possible
I think if I run 16s there will be less sidewall and less traction. I normally have 17s on, and just spin if I hit. I have KYB fr and rr inserts. New stock springs, and all poly bushings. I want to get a set of coilovers- no money to put towards it now. I have not tried starting in 2nd! I will have to look for a local tire shop w/ slicks.
The tires are BFG drag radials 205/50/15. They were having a problem w/ the scoreboard and system. I got a print out but no temp info. I think it was 55-58F.
- though im sure there are lots who know way more about this than me. heck i did a 14 in the 1/8th mile :mrgreen. ill give ya my 2cents. -stiffer spring/strut combo will help loads. this will keep more wieght up front under acceleration. bigger sidewall and less psi, this will grab alot better. iirc the cars doing drags at our track were running 10-12psi at around the same ambient. launch control on your ecu ? (not sure on this but sounds good aye). -since ive been driving the new car im starting to think that taller gears would help alot, but im waiting till i get a proper tire wheel combo to make that determination. even in what is a basically stock form our cars like to spin tires. -remeber the wheel size you have is you "final" gear ratio. bigger rims= less torque, more top speed. while smaller rims= more torque and ability to have a much larger sidewall. thats why alcohol cars, 4x4's ect, have little wheels. -get your car to do this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XttOe4re ... re=related :hehe :hehe :hehe :hehe
I realize I need to get a stiffer suspension, no cash now. I have a DFI gen vii engine management system, Msd ignition and coil, and a Msd 2-step w/ an adjustable pill! I am going to a track rental day on May 20th, so I should be able to do a lot of testing.
turn the launch down. try 2700 try 4000 4500 5000 hopefully one of those will do. i remember my NA motor loved to leave at 2700 but it was stupid hard to catch just right. then it was a crap shoot until 5K, at which point it was burnout and throttle feathering hell.
