His heater control panel works and the motor under the heater unit has been removed and
tested and works properly but the unit will not move to the full heat position

" i detached the motor and ran the temp switch the motor moves freely back and forth but when it is attached to the underside of the hvac it will go all the way to the cold side but if you put it to hot it moves and then stops and you have to push it the rest of the way with your finger a little forcefully but it will go. do you know what might be the problem?"

heres a picture of the lever in the full heat setting it also shows the bottom heater pivot point you might
    try lubricating it

    the heater door is open

their is also a second door but it is normally closed, the only time it is open is when you have almost full cold.

at this point in the levers travel the small door closes, so anywhere between there and full heat pictured above
the small door is closed so it is not causing the extra drag.

here is the top heater door pivot point you might try lubricating it too.

You might have some sort of crap inside that is causing the door to bind
I had a honda in the other day and when I pulled out the cabin air filter
100's of fucking acorns fell into the blower motor

  2. thanks for the help the pictures were excellent. You were a huge help! unfortunately i took apart the heater motor again and still cant seem to solve the issue. if i unhook the motor from the heater valve and and flapper door either part move freely without binding so i dont think those are the issue. i have to assume that it is the motor. i saw in another post people said there were multiple gears but i can only see the big white plastic one with the copper contacts and the small silver metal one that turns it. can the motor be taken apart further? i didnt see anymore screws that allowed you to breakdown the motor.

well if theirs no resistance or binding I'll look through the manual and see what tests there are for the motor and control panel

I bet your problem is in the engine bay. That motor should also be operating a cable that goes to the engine bay and turns a valve on the firewall on or off to let hot coolant into the heater core. I would disconnect that cable and see if the motor moves the door.
