Well just as the title states my 4afe motor is leaking oil and filling up the spark plug tubes enough to fill it all the way to the top and leak over the valvecover onto the outside of the engine....

little back history, this motor is out of a 93/94 corolla with the redisigned head and all that junk. it runs like top i had to do some modification to the old throttle body and am using the old dizzy however i am using a napa mpw 4511 cap(3sfe) and wire assembly(as it is the same shape as the originall 4afe(90st) cap is just with easily removable wires that way i could re wire it for the proper firing order...

you may be wondering why i am using those as they are round not square, well my stock cap/wire assembly spark plug "boots" are to short they dont even touch the sparkplugs. the 4511 cap has the longer "boots" and sits on the sparkplug correctly, but yes it is like a round plug in a square hole, however there is spark plug tube orings inside the valve cover that should prevent the oil from coming out(they are not and they are brand new) when i installed them there was about 1/2" of sleeve they could have been placed in. i placed them all the way up inside there, does anyone know if maybe i should have left them at the very edge of the "sleve"

any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

i just replaced that, installed new spark plug tube o-rings, the only thing im thinking maybe is i inset them in the sleve to far up?

some how or another you've installed them wrong.

its possible, though i coppied the old ones(in terms of location in the sleve and which way was up), the only difference is there is about 1/2" sleeve they go inside of and im thinking maybe i pushed them to far up there and they are only supposed to be right at the edge of the "sleve"(i dont have pictures to show you and i couldnt find anything in the bgb on where they should be located)

yeah most definetly go thru how you installed it....but yeah valve cover gasket is the culprit

problem is if the originall was wrong i have no way of verifying it, as there is nothing that says depth in the bgb

was it on a 4afe? see alot of the problems is i have no point of reference on this p.o.s. as its a newer corolla motor and is nothing like our 3s/5s etc.

ok guys what would cause to much pcv pressure in the valve cover? when it is running and i remove the oil cap there is a audible pressure release and i think that is contributing to my oil coming into the spark plug tubes.

earlier today i moved the tube seals down further on the tube and it still did it.

the valve covers fill with oil, so its all part of your oil pressure escaping i believe. probably not a good idea to take it off while its running

i didnt take the valve cover off while it was running only the oil cap(its not a great idea as the engine stumbles but it doesnt hurt it unless its prolonged)

i talked with a toyota service guy and when i described my problem he knew right away it was coming from the bottom of the sparkplug tubes and filling up into the tube and up and out(he said all i have to do is reseal the spark plug tubes)(take them out and put new sealant on the threads)

save for i have no idea how to get them out of the head without removing the head and maybe pressing them out, the bgb shows only for installing them on a new head.

no its not:) one guy said just to grab it with a pair of pliers(did that started to deform the tube but definatley did not break it loose.

    anyone have a corolla bgb?
