K I got my fuel lines fixed finally! Fender's on, hole's are in the process of being patched....but I have some problems with my engine....here's the jist of it...

It starts up fine, rev's high (2000-3000rpm), then suddenly dies....it did this about the first 5 times we started it....then I changed the AFM with the one from the 87...and it started up, and holds an idle, but when it's revved, it bogs down hard and will stall, unless you let off, then you can get it to go above 5000rpms....

So I had a look at my 87 gt-s, and compared the vacuum lines to my engine, well, maybe half of them were in the same spots. Keep in mind, I have an 88 gt-s, with an 86 engine in it, and I'm comparing it to an 87 gt-s, so I'm assuming all the lines should be the same as that one right?

Does anyone have a diagram of where the vacuum lines go? That sure would help a lot!! I think I'll start with them, and if that doesn't fix my problem, I'll go from there.....Thanks guys!!

if you think you have a vacuum leak i would take some carb cleaner and spray around the lines and see if the rev goes up.

or try disconnecting some lines and plugging them. EGR mabey?

in response to the diagram Q tho i dont off hand but i will hunt around for ya.

well....there's a diagram on the hood, but mines faded and hard to read....i might take a pic with the camera and just enhance it though.....hmmm....

does anyone know if there's any notable differences in vacuum lines from 86-88 years?

I had that when I put the JDM FE in the GT I had but I changed out a bunch of shit and have no idea what was causing it.

Ok, maybe my engine is a special case since it's an 86 swapped into an 88, that had cruise control, but wasn't put in now....

On my 87, there's a vacuum line going to the cruise control, but since my 88 doesn't have the cruise control actuator, where's that vacuum line supposed to go now? hmmmm I hope someone can help! :D

Here's a pic of my engine bay, with the diagram in an easy to reference picture!

Maybe if you had time and you know what you're doing a little better than I do, you can number code that image for me! ;)

you have to plug it or find a way to recirculate it.

I'll try that...I posted the wrong link to the pic too...here's my engine and my whacked out hoses, that I'm pretty sure are wrong....

Do you think this would be causing it to be hesitant while revving the engine?

    K I think I fixed everything...

I ran all the lines according to the diagram, minus the vacuum lines on the passenger side of the engine, which go to this pressure release valve...which the 87 doesn't have, but my 86 engine does....so I duno, I ended up routing the line to the valve, then looping the other opening on the valve so nothing was left open....

This made the car run a little better, but it stills boggs down when revved...

I read the engine codes and got 21, which is oxygen sensor.... I thought this had to be wrong, or something wrong with the wire, since its a brand new o2 sensor....so I tried swapping the ECU out of the 87 and put it in my car....now it runs like a champ!

    Next, brakes, and more bodywork!

    Cliff Notes:

Vacuum lines fixed, ECU replaced, car runs good!

    my guess...wrong ecu.

even if it was a "wrong" ecu....it shouldn't matter, since they're all 3sge motor's anyway....

I'm thinking maybe the ecu was faulty...when I ripped up the carpet there was quite a bit of condensation on the floor on the passenger side due to a hole in the floor :S

probably some wierd short in the o2 sensor internals then.
